to wonder where my school records are?

I left secondary school in 1999.

How would I get my GCSE results and where are they? Are they still in existence anywhere?

I just can't imagine they are for some reason. Nothing was digital then.

I think you can contact the various exam boards and they should have records of qualifications. Don’t know if they can/will reissue a certificate though.

If you don’t know what your exam boards were (I wouldn’t without looking at my certificates) you might just have to try them all to see what they can find on you.

Can you remember which exam board it would have been? They would have records and could replace your certificates or confirm your grades.

Harrysutton · 03/05/2022 09:53

ask a school friend which exam board you were with and contact them all for replacement certificates.

Abraxan · 03/05/2022 09:54

You can get certified replacements from the exam boards: www.gov.uk/replacement-exam-certificate

I guess if you don't know the exam board you'd have to contact them all in the first instance.

My DH recently emailed the office at his old school (which he left in 1996) to ask to be reminded of his subjects/grades. Secretary was able to find them quite quickly, didn’t have the certificates obvs but no one would have made up DH’s grades (!) and at his age no one is likely to ask for certificates, he just wanted to give accurate grades.

I'm just curious really. I don't actually want my records. I know AQA was one. It's not that I want them, it's just are they anywhere?

And it's interesting (really doesn't matter at this point in my life) but if I said I got an A* in English, (I got a B), would anyone be able to even find out?

Again I'm not going to, my education is done. Just find it interesting.

I went to a crappy school and there were literally two girls in our year who passed their exams well. Me and a girl who had a family from Africa, the rest got Us and had five children by age 18.

Every now and then I get asked for my GCSE certificates. When I enrolled at university I was asked (the only person in my peer group) and occasionally when starting a new job.

ChessieFL · 03/05/2022 11:38

If the employer asked you for evidence of your grades then they would find out you have lied. If they don’t ask for evidence they probably wouldn’t find out but it’s not worth the risk.
