I've been wanting to get back in control with my weight and I know I could use free sites or do it myself but being completely honest I NEED the accountability and somehow paying forces me to stick to healthy ways.

I was about to sign back up to sw but came across Noom. Did a long questionnaire and it claims that not only will I be at my ideal weight by xmas but I will have tools to help me to stop comfort eating etc too.

Is it real? Any real life experience? Xxx

I’m doing it now and have lost almost nothing in 6 weeks. An app can’t magically stop me eating chocolate when stressed or manufacture time in my manic day to exercise. I don’t mind the cutsiness/Americanisms too much but my work is full of that so perhaps I’m just used to it! Some of the psych tips are interesting and I do find it motivational. I think like anything else you have to commit to it for it to work. You still need to actually make the effort and I’m not really. It has made me accountable for food choices and try harder to at least walk more but I don’t religiously log my meals etc. I did a “free trial” but the regular cost is pricey so I plan to give it another month or two then ditch it especially if it’s not working for me.

I've tried it a couple of times - initally the food database was rubbish but they have lots more UK food on it now.

Some of the psychology is basic but others were interesting.

They also cover hints and tips about weighloss including hormones, strength training etc which I didn't know much about beforehand.

The standard daily calorie allowance is 1200 but you can increase that by adjusting your weightloss goal and exercising also increases your calories.

I thought the categorising food into red, yellow, green for calorie density was useful - i know my fruit and veg intake increases!

I liked it. The accountability and psychology-based weight loss tips suited me. As pp have said, the tone of the writing is a bit infantilising, however the content is good science and they're just trying to keep it light and fun.

I had no issues with logging uk food in the tracker, don't know why others says it's all US based, it's not. They seem to know most of the contents of Waitrose and M&S, as well as stuff in take ours like Leon. If it doesn't know a good, it's very easy to add it so no issues really.

It is very expensive though. I somehow thought I was paying £60 for the year. Turned out that was being paid every two months 😳

I didn't lose loads of weight (except when I had covid, which doesn't count!) but I did pick up some helpful healthy habits.
