To ask you to choose my new glasses?

I need some new specs, but don't want to look like an old granny or a ridiculous fashion victim, and I definitely don't want to choose a trend which is just on the way out. I have long hair, a heavy square jawline and I'm in my 50s. Any suggestions gratefully received, especially with photos!

I think we'd need to see some on your face. But IMO the people at the opticians are pretty helpful and will know what would suit you.

Have you looked at Cubitt’s website? They have a virtual try-on feature that allows you to see how different styles (and colours) would look on you.

What's your hair/skin coloring? Do you prefer metal or plastic?

ApolloandDaphne · 01/05/2022 19:05

You just need to and try on loads of pairs at your local opticians. Mine are great at helping and giving opinions. I have Tiffany ones at the moment and I love them.

I also have a very square jawline and find rectangular frames look awful on me. I’d recommend something more round.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 01/05/2022 19:24

Specsavers have an "app" where you take your photo & can then "virtually" try on different frames. Gives you a good idea of different styles.

From what you've said a soft shape and definitely not the trendy heavy black or dark frames. I've yet to see anyone who suits them 🥴

Elephantia · 01/05/2022 20:49

Hmmm... I think those Marc Jacobs glasses would make me look like Eric Morecambe! I'll definitely try the try-on software if I can work out how, thanks.

I think clear plastic frames are quite flattering on lots of people, fashionable but i think itll be around for quite a while

Iolla has a great virtual try on as well, it was really accurate for me, and the glasses are excellent value for money for the quality.
