Dangerous crisp packets - baby

Only half light hearted….today I gave my 6 month old an unopened packet of tyrells crisps to momentarily distract her and play with for 2 mins. My partner was horrified and said this was dangerous due to the sharp edges on the packet. He went on to say hula hoops would be ok as the packaging is more pliable. I said he was being ridiculous. AIBU ? I could understand if I was passing her a carving knife …

You may as well have given her barbed wire! A crisp packet Grin Think of the injuries!

My DH gave our very young son some dollar coins to play with in the car one day. I swiftly removed them. He thought I was being a bit precious at the time! A few years later he said to me "Wow, that was a daft thing to do, what was I thinking!" We were very sleep deprived at the time!

I am almost certain you won't have a revelation in a few years that you were handing your child the equivalent of a live grenade, but maybe your partner might look back and realise he was being a bit daft on this occasion!

Thank you @DropYourSword , for a moment I thought I was being a big gung-ho. I never quite know where the balance is between machetes and quavers. I shall be sure to pass on your experience to my better (safer) half

I got my watch battery changed in a shop once. The assistant gave the old battery to my 4yo as she was curious about it. Before I realised, dd had swallowed it. You can imagine the rest....

Sara83zivf · 01/05/2022 02:57

@FabulousFlowerpots i imagine this could end rather badly. Does this mean you no longer allow crisps in the house?

Thanks @cigarettesNalcohol but how does one communicate this without coming across as a sadist?

I would never ever give a baby a crisp packet, especially something yummy like Tyrrell's.

Mine would just chew the packet until it opened and then there would be baby drool on my lovely crisps.

Hands off baby.

Ask him if you are raising a man or a snowflake and should you also wrap Baby in bubble wrap before leaving the house.

cigarettesNalcohol · 01/05/2022 07:18

@Sara83zivf you can't communicate with these type of people, it's a loose loose situation unfortunately. The crisps are the real victims in this story. Tragic.

An unopened packet of crisps is one of my 6 month olds favourite toys!
