Does he really have to make such a song & dance over it ? A big blardy long trumpety blowing noise.

He has a cold and is making me feel sick now

dh does this

sounds like the QE2 coming into Southampton

sandyballs · 10/01/2008 15:05

No, not unreasonable at all.

I wanted to stab DH during the night when he woke me up for the third time with his coughing and sneezing and nose blowing, followed by long sighs.

pyjamagirl · 10/01/2008 15:11

and he thinks just because he has a cold he can slurp his drinks [barf]

I never ever give sympathy when he is ill anymore after he would constantly lie about what the doctor had said the final straw was when he had a virus but conned me that he had glandular fever and had me running round like a blue arsed fly for two days .

I only found out he was lying because someone told me that if he had actual glandular fever he would find it hard enough to sip water never mind scoff a chicken curry (as he had done the night before )

Don't be so uncaring and unreasonable you lot - you should be offering 3 meals a day plus tea and snacks whilst they recover on the sofa.

Buda · 10/01/2008 15:14

At least your blows. Mine sniffs. Constantly. Till I end up yelling "blow your bloody nose!"

belgo · 10/01/2008 15:22

pyjamagirl- my sympathies - my dh does exactly the same thing and the noise he makes is louder then a train - I wish I could measure it in decibels.

I was also quite concerened he would damage his nose, so made him get an ear nose throat referrel. It turns out he has chronic allergies to several things - including cats so we can never get a pet cat and dust meaning I should do more housework, but I don't.

nortynamechanger · 10/01/2008 15:32

I'm with Buda, dear god it drives me mad. I just say tersely, "do you need a tissue?"

Threadworm · 10/01/2008 15:44

Why can't my DH sneeze at less than a billion decibels? It is actually possible to sneeze without shouting, isn't it?

Joekate · 10/01/2008 15:49

Buda - I'm with you! Sniff Sniff sigh sniff. His reason - "if I blow my nose, it'll only make it worse". HA

captainmummy · 10/01/2008 15:52

My dh makes me mad becuase he tends to wait until he's behind the steering-whell before he decides to blow hisnose, steering with his knees. With the dc and me in the car.

captainmummy · 10/01/2008 15:52

Oh and he always slurps his tea. Mine is just as hot but I don't slurp.

Spillage21 · 10/01/2008 16:04

My DH always totally explodes when he sneezes - never grabs a hanky, or tries to reduce impact - result is usually him looking at his hand asking if I have a tissue. I gag and then have sudden surge of immense irritation...

This is a bit of a hijack, but can I just tell you about DS2's dangerous sneeze yesterday?

We were in A&E, getting an injury just below his eye checked out. Very swollen but all was calm, DS2 was happy, and I thought we were in the clear.

Then a dainty little sneeze from DS2 and the swelling beow the eye instantly doubled, closing his eye altogether. DS2 frightened, me very frightened. I went back to triage nurse who breezily said:

'Oh a sneeze lets air in from the sinus [or something] when there is a fracture. It's a classic sign of fracture.'

Cue misery and panic in me. After an hour's terrified wait we were told by a doc that it's only sometimes a sign of a fracture. It can be caused just by the sneeze breaking already-damaged vessels.

There wasn't a fracture thank god, but it was still the worst ever sneeze.

NorthernLurker · 10/01/2008 16:19

a fracture - did she mean a skull fracture yjen? Goodness but she needs to work on her bedside manner - that would scare me witless!

Oh and am so pleased I;n not the only one with a dh whose sneezes can demolish buildings! Why do they do it to us??

Threadworm · 10/01/2008 16:21

I supposed it must have meant a skull fracture, and yes, I was a bit with her for saying something that was scary and misleading. I spent the hour worried about the fracture and worried that more sneezes would pump him up like a ballloon until his face burst.

Maidamess · 10/01/2008 16:22

My dh holds his breath when he takes a mouthful of food, then proceeds to breathe out slowly through his nose while he chews it, complete with nose flute.

Gawd bless him.

belgo · 10/01/2008 16:33

threadworm - yes, that is the scariest sneeze ever! I hope he gets better soon.

kittylouise · 10/01/2008 16:38

This thread has made me laugh - pyjamagirl, your dh takes the prize for shameless attention seeking hypochondriac behaviour.

My dp has got a cough at the moment, now I love him dearly but I wish he would shut the hell up. I have got no sympathy with anyone who makes that racket. It's when he look pathetically at me after each bout of coughing that I have the murderous urges.
