AIBU to take DD on holiday and leave DS at home?

My DH won’t flight. We’ve tried in the past, even medicated him pre DC’s but he just can’t do it.
I really want a sun holiday. My DC’s have never been to an airport never mind being on a plane. My DS is 15 and DD 13. I’ve offered to take them on holiday next Easter, leaving DH at home. DD is really excited, planning all the things she can do.
DS said he doesn’t want to come. Has said he’s happy to stay with DH, and happy for us to go without him.
For context he has Dyspraxia and is being assessed for ASD. He loves to stay in his routine and I know he wouldn’t get as much joy from the holiday as DD but I really want him to come.
Am I begin unreasonably to leave DS behind? It feels wrong going without him but DD is excited and I actually want to go

YANBU to go without him if that’s what he wants and he’d prefer to stay at home. Just be clear with him that after a certain point it will be too late if he changes his mind.

It seems quite logical if he doesn't want to and his dad isn't going. I would leave him behind.

Dillydollydingdong · 29/04/2022 19:15

You'd be unreasonable if you tried to insist that ds go with you. Leave him alone with his dh. They'll be happy.

Something very similar was asked recently🤔

sleepymum50 · 29/04/2022 19:17

I agree. It seems the logical thing to do. Think of all the lovely things you and your DD can do together. She might not be so keen on a holiday with her mum in a few years. Hope you have a blast!

arethereanyleftatall · 29/04/2022 19:17

Why would it feel wrong when it's literally what everyone single one of you want?

Quartz2208 · 29/04/2022 19:19

THe only person who wants him to go is you.

It is his choice and he is old enough to make it so let him

LIZS · 29/04/2022 19:20

Will that be just before exams? If he is not keen why bother taking him.

GettingStuffed · 29/04/2022 19:22

Perhaps your son and husband could go on a no flight holiday, you can go great places by train or coach

Maydaysoonenough · 29/04/2022 19:22

We are taking ds's away soon. Dd's are staying home. Their choice. No brainer imo.

Yes. Your absolutely right. I’m the only one who wants him to come. I just feel so guilty about it. I’ve always tried to give them the same opportunities in life.
I suppose they’re getting older and more than capable of making decisions for themselves.
I suppose it only the start of them growing up and making their own decisions

Have a fab mummy daughter holiday. Don't feel guilty. Everyone gets what they want.
