Sick pay (Covid related)

I tested positive for Covid yesterday. I have v. mild symptoms (sore throat, bit of a runny nose but no cough). If this was just a cold, I'd very much consider myself fit for work and would pop a paracetamol and go in.
I phoned employer yesterday to advise I'd tested positive and they asked me not to attend work for at least 5 days (which I understand).
The problem is, I don't normally get paid sick pay. Can I dispute this on this occasion as I have made myself available for work, it's just that they don't want me there? Government advice is to stay home if you can, but that's not a legal requirement.
Just to add, my job can't be done from home and I don't work with the public (I share a large office with 2 other people so I totally get why they don't want me in).

Everyone is entitled to Statutory Sick pay.

I understand that I'll qualify for SSP but not until day 4, so assuming that I return on Tuesday after the bank holiday, I'll get paid 1 day of SSP (about £20 I think) instead of the £200 I'd have earned if I'd be able to go to work.
