watched two movies via streeming services recently.
both were english/spanish but if you didn't select subtitles you missed half the conversations.

I can’t watch these movies with my DP, he’s extremely dyslexic and can’t cope with subtitles. Even if the subtitles are automatic, they should warn you to start with. We got 30 minutes in to a movie once before they moved to another language and it was game over ☹️

I can’t imagine the issues it causes for visually impaired viewers.

For reference, I love watching foreign language films but need to watch them alone!!

I struggle with films like this, I have some learning difficulties and my reading speed is not fast enough for quite a few films. I end up loosing the plot line with mixed subtitles, pretty annoying when they come halfway through and it gets interesting.

I like those kind of movies too but I sympathise with the people above me who struggle.

I watch English language movies and programmes with the subtitles on as I sometimes miss what's being said.

I quite like it too. I like listening to other languages.
I speak a few fluently myself and can understand a bit of some related languages.

just wish that it's made clear in the blurb so that you can switch on the subtitles if needed.
