If you have an 18 month old washer dryer that breaks down how long would you reasonably expect to wait for it to be repaired? It broke on Tuesday, called up retailer (who I have a care plan with). They referred it to the manufacturer as it's in warranty. The manufacturer sent out someone from a contracted company who came on Thursday and said it needed a part and should take around 4 days. Then I got a text with an appointment for the 17th May! They say this is because they are waiting on the part. The retailer have started the write off process as the agreement with them is that it needs to be repaired within 7 days of the engineer visit, which is clearly not going to happen now. They need to confirm what's happening with the manufacturer, who are being obstructive and saying I just need to wait for the part. The retailer told me if I can get a code from the manufacturer they will be able to process the write off straight away and arrange a replacement but the manufacturer is saying they need their manager to call me back but they haven't. It's sending me insane. 2 kids with uniforms and various clubs kits that need washing. I have a disability and am washing clothes each morning before work in the bath then wringing them out to drip dry. It's exhausting. It wasn't a cheap machine and I'd expect it to last longer than 18 months. Is it reasonable to insist on not waiting for the repair? Any advice to get this sorted quicker?
