To be absolutely pissing fed up with Evri / Hermes

Vent vent vent...

There was no reason to rebrand, they are still just the same bag of shite.

Day 6 of "we tried to deliver your parcel but you weren't in..."

I AM IN and I have been all along as WFH. There is no one to call, no one to complain to. I am no further with the seller either, raised it with them but no one has got back to me. I know the simple option would be just to cancel and get a refund but I want my sodding parcel as it's not something I can reorder as it's no longer available.

Any similar issues? (Haha, stupid question!)

Any tips? How did you track down your Evri / Hermes driver? How long before they actually delivered and WHY? OH WHY??? do they keep saying they have been when they have not.

AIBU to still be holding out for hope or is it time to give up and make peace with the fact I'm NEVER getting my parcel?

Grrr, it's so useless.

A pet shop lost me as a customer as Hermes wasn't able to deliver pet food despite us all being in on all the days they said they tried to deliver.

I asked for a lasagne form for Christmas, we came back from a short break and DH discovered a package in the garden - a ceramic form broken in pieces as they decided to throw it over the garden gate.

DD's birthday present ended in the general rubbish bin, luckily we added another bag just before bin day and discovered it

I try to block shops who deliver by Hermes but it's often not straight forward.

Are you on Facebook? If so are there any local groups that could help? For example there is one of those general groups for my town where people ask for plumber recommendations/share local events etc, and from there I have learnt the Hermes/Evri deliveries are handled by a local distribution company, and there are different drivers assigned to different routes. If there is something similar for where you live you might be able to get in contact with the distribution centre direct?

Ellie5341 · 25/04/2022 22:49

Sounds like a driver issue.

We have a regular lady who is fab. However a number of times we've had a chap who once came then refused to take a parcel (small bag of returns less than 1kg) saying it's not the right day (it was booked and never been an issue before.

Can you put a note on the door?

MoltenLasagne · 25/04/2022 22:55

We used to have a shit Hermes driver, then he was replaced with our current one. He was so good with parcels when we were ordering loads in the newborn days that we got him a Christmas card Grin

FabBabs · 25/04/2022 23:15

If your getting daily updates its not lost its being scanned each time. Are u getting a time slot?

There's two couriers one who does you area with small/medium parcels. And one who covers a bigger area with large parcels. What could be happening if your not getting time slots is the seller has sent it standard band so keeps going to your local courier whos failing the delivery as a misband and sending it back to the regional depo. The regional depo are trying their luck by resending it back to the courier each day hoping he'll give in and just take rather than have to pay the large courier extra to take it and have to chase the seller. The local courier would get between 50p-£1 to deliver it where as the large courier would get about £6.00.

YANBU

Our local depot is an absolute shambles too. (huge backlog.)

Currently awaiting a parcel from love leggings which has been sat with them for a week...

I agree it would be helpful to know who the courier is before making the order online as i'd have just ordered from elsewhere with a different delivery company.

Oh you are joking! I was literally looking at love leggings at the weekend but got distracted and never made the purchase. Didn't realise they use Evri too 😩 that's put me right off!

@FabBabs

I'm getting the time slots. Every day there is an update with a two hour window but I'm in most of the day anyway as WFH, sat by the window. Then half way through that delivery window or at the end of it, there's an update saying they have attempted delivery and I wasn't in.

We do have a front garden and a drive but it's nothing out of the ordinary and 98% of other deliveries / drivers manage just fine and I hand on heart not noticed anything any of the days they supposed to have "been here". No van, cars slowing down etc.

@Ellie5341

DH has been supplying daily notes to go on the front door. By the way, he's been WFH too so it's definitely not my imagination Halo

Our usual guy who does deliveries is great

BUT I tried to return something (luckily only worth £30 so it could have been worse...) and the company never got the return and so never refunded. And trying to navigate Hermes (as it was then) to sort it out was so impossible and ended up on an automated loop- both my DH and I tried several times and eventually had to give up.

Knock on effect though is I won't buy anything from that plumbing company again just in case I need to return it, which is a shame as they were good with good customer service and products. But the next thing I needed was over £100 and I just didn't want to risk it if I needed to return it

Not read the whole thread, but I find Evri very good ! My lady is fabulous and has become a friend.
I know that the parcel company has bad reviews and often comes up on mumsnet as being inefficient, but I must just be lucky as I've always found them ok ( even as Hermès )
I'm sorry your having problems though op

You're lucky. My town Facebook group is constantly filled with posts of people trying to track down their Hermes packages after they were delivered to completely the wrong address.

FabBabs · 26/04/2022 08:43

If your getting time slots then it is definitely being scanned each morning because the courier has to manually scan each parcel in then assign a time to it.

When I worked for them we've had many of people show up at the depo trying to hunt out they're parcels. The problem is sometimes these depo are no more than little offices or if your really rural some courier get drops directly to their houses depends on the size of your area.

I hope you get it sorted soon. Its a shambles from top to bottom.

GrandTheftWalrus · 26/04/2022 11:50

The minute I get a notification that my parcel is being delivered by hermes I change the delivery to the local shop as they seem to be incapable of working a buzzer system.

MrsClatterbuck · 26/04/2022 12:49

Back in October I ordered otc medication with Lloyd's pharmacy. It was to be delivered by Hermes. Waited a week and on looking at the tracking it was still at the depo. Phoned Lloyd's and they posted by Royal Mail another one. which they should have done in the first place for such a small packet
At the beginning of April while sitting at home having breakfast I heard a knock on the door. Thought it was a neighbour but it was a Hermes delivery man who thrust a small package at me. It was my missing medication. Which I am keeping and not returning. Lloyd's have probably already been reimbursed by Hermes.

We’ve always had great service, never had a single issue until this year when it all seems to have gone to shit. I get texts and emails telling me parcels are due then they don’t arrive and then get an email telling me there’s been a delay. Many get chucked over the gates or left at the front door even when I’m home. I’ve taken to working from my dining room so I can keep an eye out and intercept the parcel as it arrives. I get emails/texts telling me parcels have been delivered when they haven’t which means I then have the grief of complaining to the shop (I can’t manage to deal effectively with Hermes/Evri at all so I no longer even attempt that). In fairness the shops are usually pretty responsive but it’s a hassle I don’t need.

Today I am waiting on a not inexpensive package from Whistles, specifically ordered over the weekend with next week day delivery so it will arrive today when I’m working from home. I had a notification from Whistles yesterday saying it had been dispatched but haven’t heard hide nor hair from Evri, and had resorted to refreshing the tracking link to see when it’s due. It’s just updated saying there has been a 24 hour delay. I’m not here tomorrow so if they do deliver then it will no doubt be lobbed over the gates as usual as I am not here to accept it. When this parcel lands (if it ever does) it will be returned unopened as I have decided that the only way to deal with this nonsense is to vote with my feet. I only want to deal with companies that actually give a shit if I receive my order on time.

Whitewolf2 · 26/04/2022 20:18

This must to some extent come down to your driver, we have a lovely chap who is really friendly and helpful. I love how they pick up returns too so don’t have to go to post office!
the only issue we’ve ever had is when he must have gone on holiday or been Ill as for a week my parcel kept getting delayed… I guess they don’t have any contingency people, he did eventually deliver it.

GrandTheftWalrus · 26/04/2022 23:16

We got an email saying that we weren't in, it was taken halfway down the carpark for the building. I don't live in the boot of a car.

I also had to return a £65 top that had an error. So went to my local parcel shop, sent away and got my tracking number. Month later they still hadn't received it, so clearly hermes had lost it but the original seller accepted that and gave me a refund.

neveradullmoment99 · 28/06/2022 22:35

They are a nightmare. Constantly lose parcels. My heart sinks when I see its being delivered by them. Its not the courier, it is the whole bloody system that stinks.

Mrstumbletap · 28/06/2022 23:00

They are so awful, have had two bad experiences with them.

In my local area they post on the local Facebook and ask about the parcel it has been quite successful from I have seen.
