But don't actually say anything.....

I really don't like lots of talk. Although if I have to make a choice I'd rather listen to someone talk about themselves than have to talk a lot about myself or answer lots of questions. Don't know if it has anything to do with being an only child? I really like peace and being alone.

@Scandishores222 it is odd the information people feel the need to share isn't it 😉

Because the majority of people derive benefit from emotional connection and talking is the currency of connection. There are a large number of forms of non verbal connection but talking is the starting point.

There were loads of threads about this in the post lockdown period from mainly fairly introverted people who seemed to take umbrage at the idea of conversation for it’s own sake.

While I agree up to a point that very inane conversation can be quite waring I think this is a bit naive. It’s difficult to leap into deep and meaningful discussion without a period of scoping someone out first.

for someone who doesn’t like unnecessary “talk” you sure are talking a lot without actually saying anything

You seem very tense about all this. Some people enjoy whittering on, others don't.

I think you've built up the complexity of your question n your head. Or you've been on the gin since 8.30am.
