Getting wound up--construction noise

I feel myself getting wound up. I live in a residential block of flats, close to a large government office complex. It's suburban so of course there's noise.

Lately however there's been incredibly loud construction at the government building. It happens after hours (I guess not to disturb the workers). Jackhammer, drilling. Our block of flats is shaking. In the past week its continued until 23:00.

I've contacted the Council and they've asked me to find out what construction company it is. I've had a look as I've walked by but nothing is posted. I'm not going to wander onto the site and ask the person who's operating a jackhammer.

What now, do I just lodge a court order myself, against the building owners?

Literally lay down to sleep and here are the jackhammer again. Can I call the police?

Look at your council website and see if they have an out of hours anti social behaviour service, which would be run by environmental health. It's not up to you to find out who the contractors are. They can send someone out to witness and they can serve a notice. Also, log each and every incident, time, noise, effect on you and email the council each and every time. You shouldn't have to put up with this unless it is emergency work.

Get back in touch with the a environmental health department pollution section and ask to speak to someone about a noise nuisance. Yea hey shouldn't be asking you to investigate who is making the noise, just tel them which building is involved.

Sorry, I didn't make it clear but you can often phone the out of hours team. You can ask them to come out and witness the noise.

Noise cancelling headphones will help while you try to sort it out properly!

Lol just rang the out of hours Council number. The man said, "Oh we're just employed by the council. We don't have any access to council services." He said to ring the council on Monday.

I mean, it's not really possible to lie in bed wearing noise cancelling headphones.

Anyone work in a council or police with any ideas?

Bose sleep buds will help in the meantime. I got some when we had tunneling near us, a new apartment building going up over the road, neighbour (attached) drilling into his concrete walls, and we were in lockdown so wfh. It was horrendous but these little buds literally saved my sanity.
