Hello Fresh

Albu to think that Hello Fresh need to spend less effort on advertising and more time actually putting the right ingredients in the chuffing box?
Had a 2 week trial. 6 meals in. Missing ingredients in 3 of them, 2 recipe cards missing, poor quality veg and substituted products in one.
Needless to say that I have pushed the cancel button.

@MajorCarolDanvers that's good to hear. I wonder if they are short staffed or its a particular distribution line that has an issue? Either way, first impressions count.

I imagine M&S food is good, but you are talking about meals that cost 50% more. Is there enough variety that you could you go three month without having the same meal twice? (Although maybe that's a silly ambition, nothing wrong with eating things you like. It's just that my previous experience of ready meals is that I was choosing between maybe six different things, so I couldn't go two weeks without eating the same thing twice.)

I wouldnt call what we buy ready meals - to me they are things that are all in the one package eg a curry with rice you just bung in the microwave. We buy the fresh stuff from m & s like the stir frys I mentioned. Also things like casseroles and bagged fresh veg. I’m not convinced any one company could offer completely different meals for 3 months ! I think you’d really need to plan that out and cook yourself. You’ve set yourself a target which is fair enough although it would stress me out more to try and do what you are. I’m quite happy eating similar things over a two week period eg 4 stir frys but varying the meat/fish, veg and sauce, chicken casserole /beef casserole with different veg and potatoes and some various pasta dishes. Also, prices in m & s are much more competitive now with meal deals and money off vouchers. I personally don’t think £6 for a massive prawn stir fry with fresh veg and pasta for 2 adults is expensive.

I used to have Hello Fresh, found them quite pushy. I have Gousto now, and everything's fine. The meals are great.

Gousto are far better. I tried Hello Fresh again this week as they offered me a discount but won’t bother again. Gousto meals are far tastier and you get more choice.
if anyone fancies trying a box feel free to use my referral code for 65% off your first box and 30% off any others ordered in the first month. Unlike Hello Fresh you can immediately pause your subscription so you don’t get caught out if you don’t skip a box. You can just order as and when you fancy. cook.gousto.co.uk/raf?promo_code=NICOL274409&utm_source=iosapp

I alternate between hello fresh and gousto, depending on who has offered me a discount most recently 😂
on the whole I prefer gousto, most of the interesting options on HF involve paying extra. Portion sizes on HF are more generous though. I have rarely received poor quality ingredients, but relatively often things are missing which can be extremely frustrating. At one point (during the pandemic) it happened so often I think they thought I was making it up and blocked my account from reporting it and automatically getting credit and I had to speak to someone on chat about it!! They were hugely apologetic and assured me a manager would personally check my box the next week. The following week something was missing again! Seems to have been better recently to be fair.

i can cook but don’t get home with my 3 year old til 6 most nights. By the time we’ve done bath and bed it’s 7.15 and I don’t feel like cooking. But if it’s all there with clear instructions either I will do it or my husband can (he’s not great at cooking from scratch). So we eat healthy yummy food. For us it works.

We used hello fresh for 2 years and over time they have become less environmentally friendly with their packaging. That put me off the most

I think some of the issues are regional. We've been using them for months. The odd missing card, but you can get them online easily. 🤷‍♀️

I've had maybe 1 missing item and a few subs for side veg. No issues with quality.

I've been using them about 6 months now.
