To not be able to find any positive pregnancy stories

1st trimester, looking for some books or blogs or guides or stories about pregnancy. Everything I come across (apart from the information based books like What To Expect) are mildy terrifying. All about babies dying and severe maternal mental health and terrible health problems and poor health care.
It's freaking me out a little. Yes obviously it's tough and things go wrong and we should talk about mental health issues in mothers. But I just want something positive or lighthearted.
Any suggestions?

Where on earth are you looking to find these?!

soooo many books - the baby week by week one is nice, the Emily Oster book is good too

lots of threads on here as well - what sort of thing are you after?

I had awesome pregnancies, did aerobics up until 36 weeks. First came at 37+4 after 1.5 hour labour; second at 38+4 with 36 mins labour. Hope that helps. Enjoy your pregnancy x

Are there lots of threads? The pregnancy board is not full of positive posts!

I think the pregnancy board is skewed toward people looking for help whereas those having an easy pregnancy have nothing to post about.

I find practical books very good - Emily Oster and what to expect. I would be careful about seeking out super positive stories as if it doesn’t happen for you then alot of women seem to blame themselves. For example my friend who had a perfectly healthy baby via planned c section telling me it was ‘the worst day of her life’ as she couldn’t have a natural birth….

I enjoy the baby name boards here for lighthearted chat about baby names.

I second the recommendations for Emily Oster. Also “How to Grow a Baby and Push It Out” and “The Positive Birth Book”.

My last pregnancy was great, in fact all of them were apart from a bit of mobility issues but I'm prone to joint problems anyway.

All of them have been quick and fairly painless births without much intervention needed and with healthy happy children afterwards.

My last child was a home birth because of my tendency to be quick and even though midwife got there for the last push, I wasn't scared in anyway and it wasn't to painful that I couldn't manage.

Hope that helps you OP.

So you didn't manage to Google "positive birth stories" on this search?

I’ve had two positive pregnancies. Both babies grew perfectly and I didn’t need any extra check ups. Apart from general discomfort from carrying humans in my womb and puffy ankles with DD2, I didn’t have any major side effects from being pregnant. I wasn’t sick with either of them and I got nice, neat bumps (stretch marks too unfortunately). DD1 was 5 days late and a 17h labour. DD2 was 2 days late and nearly born on the way to the hospital. I’d much rather do the faster labour again even though I didn’t get any pain relief. I make slightly larger than average babies but only because they are so long. I have two tall girls.

You could ask for some on here....
Do you have friends with babies? Surely they have something good to say.

I had a very anxious first trimester due to recurrent miscarriages and then at the very end I was worried about reduced movements so I ended up with a failed induction and unplanned C-section.

On the other hand, weeks 18 (when I started to feel movements) to 39+4 were an absolute joy. No sickness, no pain, nothing horrible at all, just joy and excitement. And my C-section scar has healed beautifully.

I want to do it all again now.
