Child wearing full huggy wuggy outfit at the park...

A young lad, probably only about 8/9, was on the park today dressed in a full body huggy wuggy outfit. Mask, all in one body suit and a full length leather jacket. The outfit, particularly the mask, was scaring all the other children but his parents were there with him like it was a totally normal thing to do. I thought that perhaps he had SEND/ASD but my daughter is autistic and there's no way I'd let her watch or wear that stuff. It's really creepy, even to me. I'm utterly baffled that the lads parents thought it was fine to bring him to the park like that and scare the other children there. Some of the younger ones were actually in tears because of how scary the outfit was.

Posting here as I really didn't know how to handle this situation. I didn't say anything to his mum or dad about him scaring the other children but not sure if I should have said something or not. It was having a really negative effect on most of the children who were there. Aibu to think it's probably a bad idea to take your child to the park dressed like that and scare everyone?

YANBU. My son loves Five nights at Freddies. He has several dress up outfits. Only time he has left the house in them is Halloween otherwise he wears them indoors as I think children may find them scary. Huggy Wuggy is even worse. He has the plush ones and loves bringing a Teddy out with him but I wouldn't allow him to bring one of them out! Not sure what I would say, probably nothing but it isn't appropriate!

Why the assumption he had SEND? He's a kid with asshole parents, that's all. You're going to meet a lot of them. They're bullies, simple as. They enjoyed upsetting the other children and were hoping someone would challenge them so they could kick off.

I had no idea what a huggy wuggy was. I wish I hadn't googled, it's so creepy! Poor kids. Parents shouldn't have let him wear it out to a park.

You have no idea if he had SEN.

This. This huggy wuggy shit is literally all on the 'cool alternative' parents and look how FUN we are. Look how INTERESTING my child is with his love for these creepy, inappropriate things.

It was his general behaviour that made me think ASD. My own daughter is autistic so I can spot the usual behaviours quite easily. It wasn't solely because he was wearing that stuff.
