And if you disagree, how do you do it?
How do you satisfy your appetite and what weight loss is reasonable monthly, if three stone overweight

@ALongHardWinter oh that sounds so tough. Flowers

I don't know what you can or can't do physically, but I've injured myself a few times and had to adjust exercise sometimes. I wonder if any of the following might work for you?

Please forgive me if they're just not suitable for you or out of your budget but I just wanted to suggest them as possibilities:

  • gently bouncing up and down on a yoga ball chair. Funnily enough, this movement "counts" as a step on a Fitbit, it helps to strengthen your core and make you hold yourself properly.
  • gentle seated cardio workouts (I like this one which is more energetic but could be a good starting point: )
  • gentle weightlifting workouts (again I like this instructor, could be a good starting point: )
  • gently bouncing up and down without lifting from the mat on a rebounder (mini trampoline). This is supposed to be good as a lymph flush - then walking on it which is easier and better for your knees etc than the ground?

@Silverswirl I hear you. I'm early 40s, short...every lb shows. Unfortunately I love all kinds of carbs but yeah, as soon as I take my eye off the ball the weight starts creeping up.

I've managed to get to 9st or just under and can maintain that with a little bit of effort. I'm far from happy as my belly is still ridiculously huge but I've come to realise to try and lose that through diet, I'd need to be under 8st and that's just not realistic for my age or lifestyle. It does mean I'll always be "a bit fat", can never wear fitted clothing etc but my DH is happy and I'm happy enough and I still get to eat chips, cheese and wine often enough Grin

*Weightlifting training.

OnceAgainWithFeeling · 22/04/2022 11:23

I’m having HUGE success from weight training. And no burpees!

ALongHardWinter · 22/04/2022 17:21

Yogacurl Bouncing up and down on a yoga ball chair sounds fun! I'm sure I could manage that. I have also considered getting myself a mini trampoline,as I've read that it's as good as walking, but less stressful on the knees, which are my main problem.

ALongHardWinter · 22/04/2022 17:24

Yogacurl Do you have any recommendations for a yoga ball chair? I've looked online, and they vary widely in price. Not sure which one to go for.

UndertheCedartree · 22/04/2022 17:32

It depends how long you want to do it for. It's certainly unsustainable long term. Personally, I can fast on 800kcal and feel fine but I would only do that for a few weeks. Some people don't get on with fasting atall. We are all different.

I think the important thing is to eat really healthy food. Lots of greens and cruciferous veg. Cut out added sugar if you can as that gives you cravings. If you can cut sugar out you stop getting the cravings so feel satisfied with your meals.

yogacurl · 22/04/2022 17:35

Yes of course! This is the one I've used daily for over a year now (and am bouncing on as I write!) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B072QKYBH4/ I love it so much.

I also use a rebounder almost every day and can't recommend it enough. It turned my life around.

Oh - and again I don't know if this is your sort of thing - but in injury times I do bath exercises too. You know, lots of stretches helped by being in hot water - take a look on YouTube for bath exercises or bath yoga etc. I think there are shower exercise routines too.

ALongHardWinter · 22/04/2022 18:46

Yogacurl Thanks,I appreciate that.

umberellaonesie · 22/04/2022 18:54

I do 1400 a day and it is plenty.
I focus on high protein but don't deny myself carbs.
Typical day
Protein yoghurt, raspberries, chia seeds and dark chocolate for breakfast.
Home made Soup and ryvita rye bread crackers for lunch.
Dinner campfire stew and bake potato or spaghetti Bolognese or fajita wraps normal family dinners but high protein at least
A high protein bar snack at some point.
2 litres of water.
30 minutes cardio daily
1 hour strength and conditioning 3x a week
I have another 5 kg to lose and then will up calories a bit to maintain.
High protein and high fibre have been the key for me feel fuller for longer and definitely plenty energy.
