Can I donate easter eggs to a foodbank?

After easter?

I have a large haul of easter eggs and fancy boxes of chocolates -birthday and easter. Around 8 large eggs and 6 boxes of chocolates.
Would it be ok to put the unoponed eggs into a foodbank or is that rude? They won't get eaten, no one in the house has a sweet tooth. I am not sure what to do with them and I don't want to waste.

I’m wondering who gives you all this chocolate. Don’t they know you don’t eat it? I can’t recall receiving more than one egg as an adult, never mind half a dozen large ones. .
My mother. We are 5 adults.
Two large eggs each.

I do buy cut-price easter and xmas chocolates after the event, for myself and kids, to eat ourselves, and enjoy the chocolate, it is delicious. And personally don’t mind receiving Easter eggs after Easter, eg family and neighbours. The Easter eggs here are small and quite expensive, usually filled with nougat or marzipan, and the big hollow ones don’t really exist. (Easter choc size not relevant , I know)
I suppose you could let the foodbank decide and ask them whether it would be rude or whether the chocolate could be enjoyed. I think it is better not letting it go to waste.

Food bank donation points are not staffed.

Personally I would have put them on
My local Facebook page freecycle etc for someone who was unable to get their kids eggs so at least they would get them for today

Tbe problem with that is that it doesn't necessarily go to someone who is unlikely to get anything nice this year. Anyone can claim it.

There will people from other religions who do not associate chocolate with Easter and will happily eat them.

I think it's much better to give seasonal stuff before the season

But it's still fine after the event (loads of gingerbread house kits appear after Christmas too, as do box sets of toiletries)

The important thing is to give; to include some things from their 'most wanted' list as well as what you have over by accident. And to consider giving cash (directly, or part of a scheme like 'you give we give'

I’m sure they’d receive them gratefully. A lovely treat for someone and a very kind gesture

You're lovely, OP. You simply wanted to check that it was an appropriate thing to do and some people can be dicks.
I think it's absolutely fine and they'll go down a treat!

mycatisannoying Thank you. I dropped them off this morning.
