Would you report this to the sports club?

If someone you knew, who had a history of being violent towards women (injunctions, arrests and so on), had just joined a sporting club where they have a policy to protect women playing the sports and they are in close proximity to a lot of women, would you anonymously bring the history of this person to the clubs attention?

Absolutely

MondeoFan · 16/04/2022 23:42

Oh I def would. Think of the women

TheMoreYouKnow · 16/04/2022 23:45

Yes but I wouldve hoped that a dbs check wouldve taken place to highlight this.

DBS check would be very unusual on merely joining a sports club, unless it was in a responsible role as staff or volunteer with children or vulnerable adults

If say they were involved in a court case together, would this person get in trouble for doing this? It would be quite obvious they were the one who done it btw

There should have been a DBS check.

If there has been a breach of duty of care by the recruitment team, or if he's lied on his application, then this needs to be reported.

WeDontShutUpAboutBruno · 17/04/2022 00:17

If he has been arrested but not convicted then I'm not sure they would do anything.

If he has been convicted then I would definitely tell them, if not then I probably wouldn't, if its obvious it's you and there isn't enough grounds to boot him out of the club it may bring trouble to your door, it wouldn't be worth it if it will do nothing apart from give him a sob story about a 'malicious' ex and s readon to harass you again.

As far as I’m aware they don’t just run background checks on normal members - only if working as a volunteer etc

In their terms and conditions it states that members have to have a high standard of behaviour - nothing scandalous or poses a risk to other members - his back ground would be more than enough to satisfy that behaviour… let’s put it this way, his behaviour is so bad there is an order that prevents him from accessing his children…
