To think my friend who I walk back from school with every day should wait for me?

Right..so, I have a good friend who lives in the next street to me and our DD's are in the same class and good friends too.

We walk back together every day as the little ones love to and we get to have a good natter. However, last night they did not wait! Her DD came out and she said 'see you later' and went off. My DD came out and was looking for her and her face dropped when I said she'd gone.

I just assumed they were going somewhere else or in a hurry but when I walked past their house they were just playing outside. She said hello and then hurried into the house.

Our DD's are only 4, they haven't fell out or anything, not ever.

I can't help thinking I've done something wrong, but I'm pretty sure I haven't.

AIBU to think she should have waited???

you should ask her, perhaps she needed a wee!!

TheGoatofBitterness · 09/01/2008 12:02

maybe she was having an off day and just just didn't feel like chatting. don't take it too personally

FlameNFurter · 09/01/2008 12:05

I have days when I don't feel like walking back together. More embarrassingly I have days when DD comes out and announces that she doesn't want to walk with X today and I know X's mum would take something like that really personally.

Unless you have organised that you are walking together then its not worth getting upset over.

pyjamagirl · 09/01/2008 12:07

she could have been cold ,needed to get back for a delivery or workman maybe she had an important phonecall to make ,she or her lo needed a wee ,

No dont worry about it. It is strange if she normally waits for you but we all sometimes feel like company somedays and sometimes not. I noticed you said they are only four. If they have only just started school full time since the hols it may just come down to her mum wanting to give her some extra individual attention after her long new day at school.

I wouldn't worry about it - I have a friend who I always walk into/out of nursery with (it's a really long walk up the drive to the road). Usually we'll wait for each other - but occasionally one of us will leave without the other - no explanation, no "real" reason - we just do.

KTurner · 09/01/2008 12:30

Thanks everyone - I know it's nothing to worry about really, I'm just paranoid about upsetting people!

I agree - not worth worrying about... I travel from work to home with a friend and every now and again I just don't feel like company and vice versa for her - no expalanation need.

bubblepop · 09/01/2008 12:46

don't worry anymore over this. maybe she was having an off day
