WIBU to wake baby?

Our 11 week old was a nightmare today and didn't nap much. Only an hour and a half. She usually gets between 4 and 6 hours during the day and sleeps 7.30 pm to 7 ish am at night. But after a screaming match due to overtiredness that started at around 3 pm, I eventually got her to sleep at 5 pm. She's still asleep now and it's 7.30 pm. not sure what to do - wake her and keep her awake for a bit or let her sleep and hope she sleeps through the night? What would you do?

Ooh that’s tough! Does she sleep through (if so - jealous!).

If it was me (I have a DS a few weeks older), I’d leave him to until about 10 then wake him up for a nappy change, PJs and a feed and hope for the best.

Good luck

I would let her sleep. Cross my fingers. At least there is a chance she will sleep through. If you wake her she won't thank you for it. Good luck comrade. You can do this!

At that age, I just let mine sleep. First was sleeping through at that point, second was doing a few hours at a time but still waking for feeds. I think they more or less do what they will anyway at that age, regardless!

Never wake a sleeping baby! My grandmother's advice ringing in my ears! I might wake an older baby but not an over tired 11 week old, no.

Leave her be

Lasoupe · 16/04/2022 18:50

She usually does sleep through. Sometimes she wakes for a feed, but she is always awake at 7 am!

Update: I put her down in her cot (as she'd fallen asleep on me) and she woke up anyway, so...

Give her a dream feed before you go to bed and hopefully she will sleep through

Never mind Grin

I’d wake her, I know I’m in the minority but you’re setting yourself up for problem if you let her sleep, she’ll be wide awake at 3 and you’ll be cursing yourself. Wake her at 8 after two hours she’ll be ready for another sleep.
