New username as very outing. Also aware not an AIBU but health boards very quiet.

Back ground: I have psoriatic arthritis and am on consentyx, sulfasalazine, etoricoxib and Co-codamol. I have not taken any medication since Wednesday morning as I have come away for a long weekend and forgotten it. Also relevant my partner tested positive for Covid Thursday morning. I have been negative, thurs, Fri and today.

So I need advice: I feel absolutely awful, sore throat, cough, body aches. The people I'm staying with have some medications available but not sure what I could actually take. Usually cold and flu stuff out of the question because of the etoricoxib but does it make a difference that I haven't taken it since weds morning? Tried local pharmacy but it closed early today because of easter weekend. Also tried looking online but again not sure if the advice is different if I haven't taken anything for a few days.

Any advice gratefully received, I'm really struggling at the moment! Flowers

I am not a pharmacist but as co codamol has paracetamol in you can at least take that, if not solpadeine or another OTC version.

I would have thought that throat lozenges would be ok too but don't know for sure.

PS sounds exactly like my DHs Covid, this week, he sounded like Barry White

Part of the feeling awful/pain/aches will be withdrawal from the cocodamol.

The OTC version is significantly lower in dose, but could stave off the worst of the withdrawals - keep to the maximum daily dose and never go over it because of the paracetamol in it.

Because you aren't taking the Cox-2 inhibitor, a standard NSAID would also be OK in the sense that you aren't doubling up on it.

But most important is to get to see a pharmacist - in the nearest large supermarket, perhaps on Monday? Or whoever is doing the emergency opening rota for tomorrow. Or the nearest walk in via NHS 111. So you aren't relying upon an internet random who also does Cosentyx and might be in need of some steroid tablets to tide you over for a couple of days.

Thanks for help. Not much actually available in the house I'm staying in so had to stick with just paracetamol.

I didn't think about the effect of the withdrawal of the co-codamol that's a really good point.
I was supposed to be staying till Tuesday but decided to leave early tomorrow so I can get back on my regular meds tomorrow night and be in my own bed which I always think helps when you're not well!

I will take another LFT tomorrow too to be sure as it is very similar to symptoms my partner has had but worse.. to be expected though with the immunosuppressants.
Thanks for useful advice and thoughts on medication!
