My amazing mum has Alzheimer’s, she has had it for 10 years! It’s been so hard to watch my amazing mum, go through this!
My sister and I cared for her, over the last 9 and a half years, but 6 months ago we had to put her in nursing care.
She now has pneumonia, she can’t shallow, and now getting just mouth care! she can’t see or hear!
We are watching every breath she takes hope it won’t be her last, but also hopefully she will be realest from this so cruel illness Alzheimer’s! 🌺

I am so sorry for your loss.
Lost my DF to Alzheimers 5 years ago. It was a massive relief that he was at peace.
You and your sister did so well to care for your Mum for so long (I know the hard road you have walked).
Please take some time for yourselves when you can xxx

I’m so sorry for your loss. Your mum sounds like a lovely lady as do you and your sister. Sending lots of love xxx

So sorry for your loss and hope her passing was peaceful.

lollipoprainbow · 17/04/2022 08:49

Does it sound terribly wrong to say I envy you that your lovely mum is at peace. My darling mum is in final stages of dementia and it's devastating to see her so so poorly she a shadow of her former self.

Thanks

I’m sorry for your loss @Nottogetapenny.

I hope you and your sister find some comfort knowing that you did the very best you possibly could for her - you sound like very devoted daughters.

Condolences to your mums sibling and her grandchildren.

Sending thoughts to you and your Dsis and family at this sad time. It's wonderful that you were ableto be there with mum, quietly reassuring her and telling her how much you love her and talking about happy memories as she went quietly over those days.

Am glad your mum was so well cared for to the end and also had her family around her
ThanksThanksThanks

When my sister was dying, we were able to do the same. It made all the difference in the world to us and to her ♥️ ♥️

@lollipoprainbow.
It isn’t wrong, we felt like that, many times, when we were seeing my mum, change and suffer so much due to this cruel disease. Hope your lovely mum and you can have the blessing of peace.

Thank you everyone for thoughtful messages, it’s hitting me in waves, she is at peace but I’m going to miss her so much. 😘💐

I'm so sorry OP.

Even though she can't hear you now, physical touch is everything. Hold her hand.
I was with my grandma when she passed (she also had dementia), and during that last couple of hours, she held onto our hands with strength we didn't know she had! She also seemed more at ease with someone rubbing firmly on her back. Don't know why, but I'm guessing it was some instinct to know she wasn't alone.

Sending you all the best, and I hope your mum's transition is calm and free from pain. xx

zingally · 18/04/2022 14:05

Oh, OP, I now see that she's passed.

Sending you love.
