Enjoy - I saw this first time round at the Royal Court - fabulous.

billywilliamthefourth · 22/04/2022 08:25

Saw it last night, it was absolutely the best thing I've seen. Took DS14 for his first London production, it completely blew his mind. Missed out last time around as v pregnant/ new DS2, fantastic to see the original cast (mostly). Enjoy!

Jericho33 · 25/04/2022 10:27

It was incredible, I've never been to a production like it. Given the entire audience rose to an immediate standing ovation I guess everyone else felt the same way!
They were all fantastic but Mark Rylance is something else.
I'm from the West Country so perhaps felt an extra sympathy for the characters.
I want to see it again now...

I'm going to see this soon and I can't wait!

I also missed out when it was at the Royal Court so I made sure that I got tickets for this production. The tickets weren't cheap gulp but I know they will be worth every penny.

jay55 · 25/04/2022 10:50

I've tickets for June. Last time round I queued for hours for days seats, for longer than the play is long.

billywilliamthefourth · 25/04/2022 12:25

I'm from Dorset and recognised so much in all the characters- I'm sure everywhere has a Rooster, but there is so much in there that was instantly relatable to people on the fringes I've come across over the years. And yes, Mark Rylance is so special in this, the sheer physicality of his performance is outstanding. I'd go again tonight if I could.

thecoffeeowl · 25/04/2022 13:09

I’m going in July and I can’t wait. I’ve seen Mark Rylance in Farinelli and the King and Nice Fish previously and he’s really something else onstage!!

balalake · 25/04/2022 13:38

I saw it when it first came out, and also Jez Butterworth's subsequent play The Ferryman. Both are excellent, and I'm glad to read others have enjoyed it.

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 25/04/2022 13:44

I saw it first time round and loved it - also The River and The Ferryman, both brilliant too in different ways. Have tickets booked for May and I can't wait to see it again!

NotEnoughTime · 25/04/2022 16:35

I was lucky enough to see The Ferryman-it was outstanding.

Jericho33 · 12/05/2022 09:48

Is it usual for ticket prices to increase during a short run?
The top price tickets were £90 before the full run started, then £145 after press night and they now seem to have gone up to an eye-watering £197!
What happened to making theatre accessible, particularly givem the subject matter of this play!
I've been watching returns as I'd like to go again but treat my daughter but will have to keep an eye out for the cheap seats.

I saw it last night. It was SO good. Really funny walking down Shaftesbury Avenue afterwards, with this torrent of people just shaking their heads saying, 'Wow!' in wonder to each other. Whole theatre standing ovation. And so bloody good to see a real play in the West End next to all the greatest hits shows.

Mark Rylance is spectacular. So is the play. It's the UK equivalent of the best US writers - Miller and Tennessee Williams. And Mark Rylance has to be the best actor of our time. I've seen some incredible stage performances but this was extraordinary. I'd watch it again right now.

I was lucky enough to see The Ferryman-it was outstanding.

I'd love to see that. He's such a good writer.

Bellevu · 12/05/2022 10:17

They are selling reasonably priced day tickets, but you'd have to start queueing at about 5/6am.

Jericho33 · 12/05/2022 10:29

We live in the West Country so not an option for us sadly

beguilingeyes · 06/06/2022 14:29

AFAIK they put a bunch of tickets on sale on Mondays. Also if they don't sell all of the days seats at the theatre in the morning they sell them online.
I'm lucky in that I live in London and am not working at the moment. I've done day seats twice so far. Getting there by 8 would probably get you in.
They're £15 and front row! Bargain of the century.

JanisMoplin · 06/06/2022 14:33

Thanks, been meaning to see this. I love Mark Rylance. Though he was really badly used in Don't Look Up.

beguilingeyes · 07/08/2022 13:13

Four more performances for Jerusalem, as a reminder for anyone who hasn't see it. I'm off to today's matinee.
They put a bunch of tickets on sale on Monday morning at 10am (£15-30 IIRC).
Two performances Tuesday and a Wednesday matinee and that's it.
My friends went on Tuesday and Tom Cruise was there.
