Holiday without kids

Long story short I have been invited on a 5 day long term time holiday with a friend. Childcare/time off not an issue for me. However I feel guilty about leaving DD to go.

It's a non-kids holiday as we are going to a specific event in a city. Not really suitable for kids DD age and I am a lone parent so wouldn't usually get time like this.

So what I'm asking really is AIBU if I go on this holiday Blush

DD will have been on several holidays abroad already this year so will not have missed out holiday-wise (very lucky with having family abroad I am not flush with cash). Am I a terrible mum for considering it Confused

Wrenna · 14/04/2022 20:38

How old is she and where is she going to stay?

kitcat15 · 14/04/2022 20:39

So go and enjoy

It really depends on the child (I have one who’d be fine if I went away and one who definitely wouldn’t due to SEN) but if no issues on that front and you have reliable childcare I’d go in a heartbeat! It’s important for parents to take time to recharge once in a while.

@Wrenna

How old is she and where is she going to stay?
DD is 5 and would stay with her grandparents who have her a fair bit when I work so she is very comfortable staying there overnight

I have just returned from a child free holiday. Dd has no idea we were anywhere but home - if you ask her she had a holiday at grandparents

Heartbeat3 · 14/04/2022 21:08

Go and enjoy yourself 😀

Go and have fun op. It's important to still have adult only time when you're a parent.

YANBU! Go go go! My mum was a single parent too, and she occasionally went on holiday with one or two of her friends and I stayed with grandparents. Have a wonderful time!
