AIBU to be totally confused by travel restrictions?

I've looked on the government website and I've tried to have a Google but I can't easily find what I'm looking for.

We are heading France in the Summer holidays.

4 kids. 2 have had one jab. 2 have had none (all 12-16).

They will all eventually have jabs but I'd rather wait til Autumn when they see the best benefit rather than just for the sake of getting on a plane.

Where do I find France's travel rules re the covid vaccine? Are there any any more?

Thanks!

Which bit isn't clear?

Did you read the .gov website?

The link pp supplied explains it all but basically

From 31 March 2022, travellers from the UK aged 12 years and over who are not fully vaccinated need to provide:
• A negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours or an antigen test result taken within 48 hours pre-departure.

Much easier to just get them all vaccinated.

Doesn't look unclear to me.
They will need to provide some sort of negative covid test to travel

Check France’s own travel Covid rules website, the .gov website although this sometimes takes 1-2 days to be updated after a rule change. And keep in mind that the rules today will or could be vastly different come July/August. Just check them again the week before you travel, no point in making plans now if they can still change several times before you go.

Tui have a really good document on their website which is really easy to understand. It has a table with each country listed and depending on if you are vaccinated or not.

The UK Gov website provides clear information for most countries you'd be likely to travel to. For France, as it stands, your unvaccinated teens will need to to an antigen test 48 hours or less before travel.

Not sure why you think you want to wait until Autumn. If you vaccinate them now, they have their second jab in time for the holiday and are best prepared when Atumn and the school start.

Saying that, it may not mean anything, DD got Covid 6 weeks after her second jab. But the chances are better.

For France - if you don't have all of them fully jabbed, current regulations mean nothing. You need to check around 2 weeks prior and check again regularly. For peace of mind, the jab may be easier.

thebellagio · 14/04/2022 10:08

Out of interest, what is the current definition of "fully vaccinated?"

I have had 3 jabs. My husband only had 2 - is he considered fully vaccinated or not?

Regenbogen22 · 14/04/2022 10:10

@Ohdearohdearohdear6 please also be aware, the tests need to be privately done and paid for in an official testing centre (if you're not all fully vaccinated by then and if the rules haven't changed).

A lateral flow test done at home won't be sufficient.

Red2017 · 14/04/2022 10:13

@thebellagio

If he had his second jab within the last 6 months he will be considered fully vaccinated. If its been more than that, he will need a third.

I thought that would be the case. Thanks for confirming.

He had his second jab in October, and I had my third jab in December. We're looking at going to France at the end of August, so we've plenty of time to figure things out.

His view of not having the booster, was what was the point if it only offered additional protection for 10 weeks. Plus in the last three weeks, both of us caught Covid anyway!
