An infinite amount if your name is Boris Johnson
Meanwhile

Break the law and visit your lover - you resign as Neil Ferguson did.

Hold a practise press conference and say that 'events in Downing Street were work events" and giggle, you resign. As Allegra Stratton did.

OP posts:
Ohwellnevermindthen · 13/04/2022 08:01

Even if they jailed him he still wouldn't resign.

itsgettingweird · 13/04/2022 08:11

Agree an infinite amount.

He was already found guilty of breaking the law in proroguing parliament.

He does what he likes because he gets away with doing what he likes.

NETSRIK · 13/04/2022 08:14

I suppose it depends on whether the PM is a lying useless idiot with no shame or a decent human being with pride and respect for the position he or she holds. Sadly, we have the former.

longwayoff · 13/04/2022 08:14

If the Prime Minister can't be called to account by his peers or the public then we have a dictatorship. I don't recall asking for this.

PermanentTemporary · 13/04/2022 08:19

Also really loving the fact that the PM apparently controls whether Parliament is recalled or not, depending on whether it helps him keep his job. What did happen in 2019 when Parliament was prorogued? Did Johnson lie to the Queen? I don't quite remember. Parliament as a tool for the party of government. Bleurgh.

Ohwellnevermindthen · 13/04/2022 08:21

It's been a great couple of days for them really.

-One MP has been found to have sexually assaulted a child (not so long ago an ex Tory councillor was found guilty of killing his wife)
-Chancellors wife skipping tax and other tax dodging when they are going to plunge over a million households into poverty
-One blithely says a nurse struggling to make ends meet should 'just eat pasta'
-Our PM and chancellor have been fined for having parties when people couldn't even comfort and say goodbye to dying loved ones
-Then to try to minimize this, another MP accuses teachers and nurses of partying in their staff rooms
-there is a blatant culture of back stabbing in the cabinet, which is not particularly reassuring given that these people run the country

This has come out in a couple of days. Surely that's a record for sleaze?

Can anyone think of anything positive they are doing right now for this country? Are they even doing ANYTHING apart from raising taxes, throwing a high viz on when visiting parts of the country without listening to anyone and claiming dodgy expenses?

They must be burying a whole load of other shit while all this is in the press, as this party thrives and takes advantage of any crisis.

AbleCable · 13/04/2022 08:29

Yes, he lied to the Queen. The supreme court statement -“This court has … concluded that the prime minister’s advice to Her Majesty [ to suspend parliament] was unlawful, void and of no effect. This means that the order in council to which it led was also unlawful, void and of no effect should be quashed."
The consequence of that was going on to win the general election by the largest majority in years.
So not so surprising he thinks he can get away with anything - he generally does.

DowningStreetParty · 13/04/2022 08:33

Could we have an AIBU voting button please? I find it so upsetting that we can’t vote out this insulting excuse for a PM and that his craven party colleagues won’t do so either by voting jo confidence in him.

CarmenThePanda · 13/04/2022 08:36

I think the lying to parliament is much worse than the FPN itself.

Lying in parliament, in response to a direct question. It’s an absolute breach.

And the dereliction of leadership, showing cynical disregard for the laws that his citizens were struggling to uphold for the greater good.

But the FPN per se is like a FPN for going into a yellow junction box. We don’t expect MPs to resign for 3 points on their licence for speeding.

But we do when they lie about it.

He repeatedly lied to parliament, he needs to be made to go.

Kendodd · 13/04/2022 08:39

In seriousness, are there any petitions calling on him to resign?

CircusBaby · 13/04/2022 08:44

If Johnson and Sunak don't either get kicked out or resign, we no longer live in a democracy. This is a dictatorship. The fact that they've passed a law against protesting is just the first step on a very slippery slope.

Kendodd · 13/04/2022 08:55

Given Johnsons complete disregard for the rules, both society's and the law, I think if he had been born in poverty in a sink crime filled estate, he'd be in prison now. Oh and he'd still have loads of kids with multiple women.

bozzabollix · 13/04/2022 08:58

@CircusBaby I completely agree with you, they are riding roughshod over parliamentary rules, it’s straight from the Trump political rulebook. America at least gives some hope in that the orange hued twat got voted out.

Also completely agree with another poster above that the epic levels of Mumsnet transphobia will win them votes here. Despite women being far more severely affected by austerity pushed by the Tories. Anyone thinking that Boris Johnson thinks women are anything but something you shove your dick into then leave needs their heads read. He is an absolute misogynist. Im sure his ex wives would back that one up.

Clarinet1 · 13/04/2022 09:02

On a slightly lighter note - One, but he has to be a decent Prime Minister!

Rafaisthekingofclay · 13/04/2022 09:04

You’ve forgotten the MP who had to retract his statement defending the MP who sexually assaulted a child by suggesting he was a victim of homophobia and a miscarriage of justice.
Kendodd · 13/04/2022 09:13

If the Prime Minister can't be called to account by his peers or the public then we have a dictatorship. I don't recall asking for this.

Except, dictators are very popular with large numbers of their population. Just look at how Putin is adored by large numbers of Russians.

longwayoff · 13/04/2022 09:43

Well yes, KedDodd, look at the crowds at Hitler's rallies. That's not really a recommendation although it's an interesting psychological phenomenon. Which Trump grasped. Who would have imagined that he would take a pattern from dystopian fiction and try to bring about a coup in the Land of the Free? But he did. Which is why we need to have our own eyes open.

DdraigGoch · 13/04/2022 09:55

To be honest, I'm more concerned about the MP who just tried to undermine judicial proceedings in order to defend his kiddy-fiddler (soon-to-be-former) colleague.

longwayoff · 13/04/2022 10:22

Well, that's the point Ddraig. If the party leader is a truth-twisting chancer who ignores laws he doesn't agree with, that sets an example to the rest of them to also do what they like.

MissyB1 · 13/04/2022 10:33

The rot comes from the top. Our prime minister has has (right from the start) given the green light to all MPs that breaking rules, telling lies, fraud, all are acceptable in the Conservative party. No moral compass is required in that party.
And a lot of the public are perfectly happy with that - which is what really disturbs me.

Kendodd · 13/04/2022 12:12

And a lot of the public are perfectly happy with that - which is what really disturbs me.

I agree, it's so worrying. Also the finger pointing at 'out groups' blaming them for the UK problems.

Ifailed · 13/04/2022 12:17

Apparently, if there's a war on, the PM is not bound by the usual rules.

Sadly, there's always a war on somewhere.

Grotbag81 · 13/04/2022 12:44

longwayoff

Totally agree.

MissyB1 · 13/04/2022 14:50

If it wasn’t the war it would be some other excuse. He’s the grand master of finding excuses.

Hortensiateapot · 13/04/2022 15:03

Has anyone added the “oops I forgot about that WhatsApp thread” with the undeclared donor funding for the gold wallpaper.
