Is working in a supermarket stressful?

Apart from the minimum wage element. Is the job itself stressful or is it the kind of job you just do your hours and then can relax and not think about it until your next shift?

For non management staff it's not stressful. Supermarket management is an extremely tough gig. You manage large teams - sometimes up to 100 - all hiring, firing, appraisals, disciplinaries, etc etc. and that's on top of your "day job" of managing your stock and shopfloor. Oh - and chuck in a shit ton of financial targets to meet, P&L reports to report back on........ hugely stressful.

I worked in Tesco as a student. Now I’m frontline NHS and dream of being in a job as stress free as supermarket work.
I will say, it was boring though.

@Jenjenn

I worked in a supermarket during uni and often fantasise about chucking in my current and going back to a supermarket job for less stress...
I day dream about going back to work at waitrose... best job i ever had. Super nice coworkers, the shift kept you busy and close to no stress.
