…. driftwood?
I’ve been told the earlier (6am?) you get to the beach, the more likely you are to find decent sized pieces.
Don’t particularly like parting from my pit ato the crack of dawn. Maybe the results would reward me.
I assume also that it’s not illegal in any way to remove driftwood? Been told you can’t remove pebbles, sand etc though.
So what’s your best experience of driftwood hunting, and where was it?
Tia…. Thanks 🙏🏻

Shell island off the Welsh coast
Did ok at shoreham when I lived in Brighton

Driftwood is quite a rare commodity, now that goods are shipped on containers not on pallets.

I would have thought as soon as possible after the highest high tides was the best time , rather a time of day per se. Check tide tables .

Find the tide times at your nearest beach here. I am in NE Scotland and find quite a lot but they tend to be larger pieces which can take a bit of carrying.

It’s not necessary earlier, it’s more how soon after high tide to see what’s been left.

The west coast is best as the currents bring it across the Atlantic

I used to come home with bagfuls when I went to visit my mum, she lived on the Cumbrian coast. I still have loads in my garage! Remember to peel any bark off while it’s still wet.
