100% 1st World Problem here... but I need to know if I'm BU to paint an entire room including ceiling in a dark shade?
In my head, I can see the finished result but I'm nervous. I haven't told my family or friends because they'd try to put off (very traditional tastes)
The room will be used as a "grown-ups" sitting room.
Anyone else done this?

I say try it. As long as you go in prepared to repaint it if it doesn't live up to expectations.

It's your house; you only need to please yourself, unless it's going on the market.

im classed as "quirky" and dont care what im "supposed" to do or care what people think
i do my own thing and give zero shits on what people think so on that note think to your self its your house you do what you want

i have every room a different colour and my stairs what i want.

my 11 y olds room is all black with a purple ceiling

living room is bright lilac with a barbie pink(what the paint was called)ceiling
my bedrooms mustard with a purple ceiling
i do rent but been here 9 years and allowed to decorate how i want

i have giant rainbow carpets in the living room and plush carpets ive pinned to the wall

buggers other peoples opinions you do you, thats my motto in life

Your home sounds vibrant and cosy @TAKESNOSHITSHIRLEY !
I don't really know anything about trends. I knew there was a big grey thing a while ago but missed that.
We bought this house, JUST started doing it up when boom DC1 arrived. Brushes down (plus broke). Then we did an extension boom DC2 arrived, brushes down (plus broke).
15 years later.... (I know I know, not proud) getting round to the house again. Zero chance of any more DC arrivals (phew!) so at last a chance of a room of my own, low traffic, peace.

I’d not. Painting rhe ceilings lowers them and makes a room look smaller and cave like. That article is nonsense.

Sapphirejane · 11/04/2022 19:32

My only concern with this is that photos of it only tend to show one corner of a room and whilst it looks good as a corner I am worried how a whole room would feel but as others have said if you like it go for it! The thought of having to paint back over it is reason enough to put me off however Grin

Exciting, share pictures when you're done!

SunscreenCentral · 11/04/2022 21:55

@buckeejit I promise to post before and after pics
