Vote of no confidence in the Government

Can we start an online petition stating that we have zero confidence in Boris et al, as a means of firing a warning shot?
We are sick of the constant sleaze and lack of accountability by our government, the lack of consequences when they break the law, the one rule for them, another for us.

We are sick of huge profits being made by the companies who provide essential services which are essential to our lives.

We are sick of living hand to mouth, to having our services decimated, to being priced out of running or using our cars, but not being able to afford the astronomical public transport costs.

We are sick of the billions wasted every year by publically funded bodies, the NHS pissing through cash while waiting lists grow and people die, Sure Start centres closed, etc etc.

We are sick of being treated like shit, our children being thrown into abject poverty, while having the luxury lives of politicians rubbed in our faces constantly.
We need to send a strong message that we are not prepared to silently accept our lot while our overmasters feed from the trough of plenty at our expense.

Enough.

Or vote for someone else in the local elections?

PurpleDaisies · 11/04/2022 14:53

It won’t actually achieve anything. A warning shot before what? We can’t force another election now.

AlternativePerspective · 11/04/2022 14:56

There’s no point.

The only way to give them the message is to not vote for them in the elections.

But the opposition need to pull their finger out and come up with some decent policies to make themselves electable, or people just won’t vote for them and the tories will get back in.

Newrumpus · 11/04/2022 14:59

Your energy would be better spent designing a viable opposition.

balalake · 11/04/2022 15:12

Vote for someone other than the Tories in the May elections if you have them.

@Saucery

I already did, so what else can I do??
UsernameInTheTown · 11/04/2022 15:17

@Newrumpus How would one go about this? I mean, a party who actually gives a crap about the electorate, who tries to get our country self sufficient again, which encourages people to get outside and grow their own food and cooperate in neighbourhoods, with affordable, reliable public transport to encourage folk away from their cars, to return people to how we should be living, healthily and not at the expense of one another. Surely that isn't to big an ask?

Go start one, I'll sign it.

Vote for a party other than the Tories in the local elections, if they see a large shift in voting they'll get the message.

Write to/email your MP about issues that matter to you, especially if current government decisions go against that.

BigWoollyJumpers · 11/04/2022 15:49

At this point in time there is absolutely no point. Every party, in every country, in every part of the world, and therefore their electorate, is experiencing the same issues. It is a global phenomenon. Covid followed by war, and a war between two massive producers of fuel and food.

This. It wouldn’t be different under anyone else. Likely it would be worse.

I’s maybe stop with all the evangelical “we” stuff. I’m not sure who you are but few get to speak for others like you are.

Not all those countries are led by a incompetent corrupt government that couldn’t utter a sentence without bare faced lies & who wasted billions & billions of taxpayers money.

Not everybody wants to 'get outside and grow their own food', thank you. I don't know anyone who does.

The people who live a long way from anywhere, possibly because it's cheaper, or because they like the solitude, or because their work is there, probably don't want to be encouraged away from their cars. And for 'affordable, reliable public transport', which would need to be frequent, to be available to a handful of people in a rural area would be a massive cost to the taxpayer. Which would hardly be 'not at the expense of one another'.

Just because you fancy a particular way of life, it doesn't mean every other voter does. We each get a vote, to use to try to get the country run as we think is optimal.
