To think no one will hire me?

I left school with great GCSE's and some mediocre A-levels. I started a midwifery degree straight out of school but gave it up after a year due to my mental health. I went back home, ended up in clothing retail and that's where I stayed until I was made redundant when pregnant with my first. I didn't look for work after my first and went on to have another baby who is now 1. I'm starting to think about work again now the eldest is nearly heading to nursery. I don't want to go back into retail and wouldn't cope in healthcare nowdays so I have no idea where to go from here and don't think anyone will want to hire me!

And tips or ideas on where to start? I don't have any particular hobbies or interests but I do have a good academic brain and could easily learn things if I put my mind to it (I was just too lazy in school!).

So will anyone hire me? Where do I go from here because I feel really lost.

The government have lots of schemes and training stuff for people wanting to change career or enhance qualifications. I did a Microsoft suite level 2 course to refresh my knowledge on a few bits and it gave me the confidence to apply for loads of jobs, and they've been biting my arm off! I've been out of the workforce for over 10 years, and don't have a GSCE to my name.

You can do anything!

Thanks @RedScarfJamjar, that's really good to know that there's stuff out there! What sort of jobs have you applied for if you don't mind me asking?

I'm a PA but I'm also qualified in property management. I've got more offers and interviews than I ever dreamed of!

Try the careers advice service. And there are loads on free in line courses to help build your skills. Futurelearn, coursera etc.

Lots of industries are really struggling to recruit at the moment so no reason whatsoever to assume no one will hire you

You may need to start at the bottom though (on low wage) and work your way up or you could retrain first
