Travel panic...HELP!

Help!
Husband is travelling to Ireland tomorrow for work from England via air. We checked the entry requirements on both the direct.gov page and Irish page a few weeks ago, which says as long as you have a valid passport, you can enter. You don't need extra time on it.
This evening he has gone to check in and it says on the Ryan air page that he needs 3 months on his passport, he has 2 months and 12 days.
Will they let him fly? On the Ryan air page it says that the passport requirements for the country they are flying to apply, but definitely said on the check in one 3 months...

Contact them directly if you can but if it's just a short stay with a return ticket it should be fine.

It seems to be 3 months now for anywhere in the EU.

youwouldthink · 10/04/2022 21:07

There's a common travel area between the UK and Ireland so no need for the 3 months. In fact if he was flying Aer Limgus he wouldn't even need a passport

youwouldthink · 10/04/2022 21:08

*Aer Lingus!!

Check in online, don’t say a word if they notice the dates in his passport when he flicks it open to show when boarding I’d be amazed! I would not be drawing attention to it now. The worst case scenario ( assuming not being able to go on his work trip isn’t that bad) is he’s not allowed to fly back, although that doesn’t seem likely if he’s leaving Ireland! in which case he gets the train to Belfast and travels home from there.

This happened to me recently. I just checked in as normal and took a chance. No problem what do ever. Did fly with Ryanair though

Thank you everyone for your responses.
I feel a bit more reassured now. I'm more annoyed that I checked weeks ago before he booked because we knew he only had a short time left on the passport. I check with direct.gov and on the Ireland website and it was fine.
It's allowed him to check in, and I've found quotes on both websites and the Ryan air website that support what we thought, it was just the Ryan air check in that said he needed 3 months. He put in his passport number too and it let him.

Yes it's literally out tomorrow, back Thursday.

You don’t need passport to go to Ireland. Photo ID only…his driving licence should be sufficient

I looked into that already because my first thought was, ah no matter he can use his driving license, but Ryan air definitely states that they will not accept driving licences or photo cards as ID and that he MUST have a valid passport in order to travel. His passport is definitely in date, he has until late June, he just doesn't have quite enough to get the 3 months that the check in form says.

How did he get on?
