Inteletravel / Plan Net independent travel agents -how do they make money/scam?!

Talking to friend today who has recently signed up as an independent travel agent after following someone on social media. I've heard a lot about this lately and i'm very curious. She's a sensible person but i am a bit suspicious about the claims of how much you can save/ even more how much you can make if you recruit others... so friend got interested after following someone, apparently they call themselves 'mentors', this lady who she signed up with apparently was until recently in a normal job, normal house, she lives in the UK, and, has now recruited a lot of independent agents like my friend, desperate for cheap holidays, these people have been recruited since lockdown, and this lady seems to all of a sudden be earning up to 500k a year? How does this work?!!! Is it a scam? This person has a, new house, massive and bought for a lot of mobey, squilllions of expensive holidays a year, high expense lifestyle. I am gobsmacked. How do you make this type of money recruiting people? I have read about MLM but i dont see how you can get a mortgage these days with that type of insecure income? Am i missing something?!! Very curious.

@Anonymoose78you also need to explain the role of PlanNet Marketing in the recruitment of “travel agents”. Inteletravel is dodgy AF.

You’re confusing two different things. There are two separate options when you sign up. One is to become an independent travel agent and the other is to become a Network Marketer. NO ONE HAS TO DO BOTH OPTIONS!

Inteletravel has for many years been an example of ethical business, with an extremely high customer satisfaction rate, and a proposition that is very attractive to potential agents. It’s recognised throughout the industry for its leadership, and has high ratings from trade associations.

We get paid for sharing the business model and earning a residual income (which is where PlanNet marketing comes into the equation).

We also earn commission back on the trips we book for ourselves and others. It’s a great opportunity, and if you are a travel lover we benefit from exclusive rates and savings too!

Would love to share more info if you’re open to hearing?

@edp78I am not confused about PlanNet and Inteletravel. I probably know much more about it and its highly suspect conduct over the years than you do. I have also spoken to many many victims over the years. Getting paid to share the business model is what happens in pyramid schemes. Inteletravel is bound up with PNM - it is NOT ethical. Just speak to the victims if they’re not too scared to speak up because intimidation is rife.

Mumsnet does not endorse trading schemes and you should not be attempting to promote something that is likely to cause financial loss to those who become involved. Those that do make money from recruiting people (and even from selling travel) are not typical of the outcome for many more and it’s a misrepresentation to say otherwise.
