Party bag ideas

DontLookBackInAnger1 · 10/04/2022 13:58

Please can I steal your party bag ideas?!

I'm wanting to avoid the sweet cones if possible (they're great, just had loads recently).

4yr old party, 20-30 children. Max budget £2/child.

Thank you!

A book or an Easter egg.

StoppinBy · 10/04/2022 15:20

Little books, a pack of mini pencils and some colouring sheets etc.

I go for mostly non edibles as I figure the kids have had enough junk.

Once, my friend put little chalk figures in them and some of the kids thought they were white chocolate..... my daughter included, lol, she proceeded to bite into it before realising hahaha.

One year, I had only friends over (people I was friends with but who had kids who were friends with my daughter) and was a bit mean... I gave the kids all whistles in their packs.... not a recommended item according to my friends but amusing for me after putting up with the party noise for a couple of hours lol.

* Don't bother, nobody will care , parents will be grateful for no bags of plastic tat, and you'll save money. Just give away cake as kids leave.*

^This. Party bags are so unecesaary

An Easter egg!

TheKeatingFive · 10/04/2022 15:28

Rubbers, stickers, pencils, notepads, bubbles, chalks, marbles, books, sweets. Lots of options without being plastic tat. Always well received by kids.

Reusable cup with lid filled with sweets. Or a colouring book.

The kids will definitely care
Junobug · 10/04/2022 15:49

They may be unnecessary but kids love them. I usually do a book, seeds and plant pot or something like a skipping rope or cheap kite. My 10 year old has his party this week, I have just got some 99p easter eggs from aldi to give out.

Junobug · 10/04/2022 15:50

I've also been to parties where the parents have put out canvas bags to decorate or bird houses to paint and these get put in party bags at the end of the party.

VyeBrator · 10/04/2022 15:54

And why train children that socializing involves tat?? Surely they can have fun with friends sans crappy junk that will end up forgetten within 48 hours.

And they can have fun with it too.

It's not about 'training', they're not dogs.

Hellodarknessmyoldpal · 10/04/2022 15:56

I usually buy a multipack of books. Usually works out about £1 per child or sometimes even cheaper. You can get 40 Mr Men books for about £30 on amazon at the moment.

stepmad · 10/04/2022 16:01

A book and a bit of cake plastic tat gets broken descarded
The works do then really cheapy

womaniswomaniswoman · 10/04/2022 16:05

@hangrylady IME not if there's cake!

SometimesMaybe · 10/04/2022 16:06

Seeds
Bath bombs / novelty bubble bath
Books (fiction, word searches puzzles)
Easter egg
Pack of playing cards
Bubble wand
Lego mini figs

Irritatedmum · 10/04/2022 16:11

Split a multipack of playdoh, there’s one half price at Argos at the moment. If you’ve got a laminator, print and laminate playdoh mats to go with them.

elbea · 10/04/2022 16:11

Baker Ross do really nice wooden kits like bug houses, bird houses, bug observation kits for a few pounds each.

Lorzest · 10/04/2022 16:12

I’m pro-environment, antiwaste and quite thrifty but I love a good party bag! I did eggcup, kinder egg and small sachet of cress seeds once. I also did small pack of sweets, cheap foam dice, counters for tiddleywinks or maths (decanted from big eBay bag), mini fidget spinners. Also pound shop gift themed with party. I read a suggestion once to do a lucky dip - sounds good though might be best to get the kids not to open on the way out to avoid arguments.

Lorzest · 10/04/2022 16:14

Meant to add that I’m not a fan at all of the cheap books. Too much of a range in reading ability - I think too many head straight to the charity shop where they don’t sell either.

chickywoo · 10/04/2022 16:16

£1 Easter eggs if nr Easter, or small
Selection box nr xmAs

Legslegs · 10/04/2022 16:17

My children love reading but are really clear that books are not fun instead of party bags.

They love getting sweets more than anything else.

Poppets and slapbands have been popular in party bags my children have had recently although I agree about avoiding lots of plastic. Maybe stationery. Flying Tiger is good.

At that age we often got Baker Ross craft things.

I'm usually lazy. We did Easter eggs this week.

DockOTheBay · 10/04/2022 16:19

Cake, stickers, chocolate or sweets (e.g. kinder bars are 6 for £1) and a themed toy. I got unicorn paint your own suncatchers from hobbycraft - 5 for £5

switswoo81 · 10/04/2022 16:27

I made up a bag with a cardboard mask (miltipack from the range) and the stickers /feathers/gems to decorate each one.Only cost a few cent.
A bag.of jellies and a Capri sun. I always find they are so thirsty in the car on the way home from a party.

princessbabychampagnechlamydia · 10/04/2022 16:31

Just give them a bag of sweets as they leave. No one wants that party bag shit in their house.

Silverclocks · 10/04/2022 16:33

Honestly, after 20 years of dealing with this stuff, just do some sweets, maybe a balloon and a piece of cake. Or an Easter egg/chocolate bunny at this time of year.

Anything else is plastic clutter that will go straight to landfill
