To assume laminate/wood flooring looks better fitted under the skirting?

My home has laminate flooring ineptly fitted (diy job with some gaps) by the previous owner. I'm considering having it removed, mainly so we can get under-foor insulation, and then having new flooring laid. However, the current flooring is fitted under the skirting. Will the skirting have to come off to do the job properly? (The rooms have been decorated since we moved in ... with hindsight we should have done the floor first, but didn't consider it at the time). The alternative would be to only fit the new flooring up to the skirting, but that will look bad won't it?

You could take the skirting off. It will make it easier to get the floor up and you can then fit your insulation all the way to the edge of the room.

The other option would be to pull the flooring up, leave the skirting in situ and once you've done your insulating and re flooring put a 'bead' down so as to hide any gaps between floor and skirting.

It looks far better tucked under the skirting.

We recently replaced ours, kept the same skirting board, took it off and put it back on again. Number the pieces / wall so you know which bit goes where.
