Nursery furniture - am I being a jerk?

We paid a lot for furniture from a well known brand, Like a LOT LOT of money for us.

It was delayed massively but we were happy to wait because we wanted this specific set. It's arrived (and the delays were a joke, this company swore down they had been in touch, no emails no communication, nothing) and it's damaged. What we saw was solid wood. We've been send MDF.

We are both livid. I want to shove lot on a pallet, pay for it to be sent back and get a refund. Hubs wants to kick off. Either way, are we being unreasonable for paying a lot of money for a premium solid woodset, and wanting to send back because they have not sent us this??

@ConsuelaHammock

Definitely send it back and opt for normal sized furniture for your lo. Don’t get a cot bed if you want to have more children. Also when your lo is old enough for a bed just get a normal sized one. You’ll save a fortune by cutting out the cutesy baby , toddler, child stuff.
thank you

OP, you shouldn’t feel like a mug - you were lied to by a company that had a decent reputation, which is hardly your fault.

A lot of people thought I was really miserly not to buy new, special nursery furniture for DC, and a lot looked completely lovely in the shops!

Sorry that's awful! If it's who I think it is, they are known for being abysmal at the moment with customer service in general. Happy to take your money but then shambolic after.

We got some fantastic second hand solid oak nursery furniture from Facebook marketplace and paid peanuts for really excellent furniture.

Worth a look x

Not a mug at all. Buy some beautiful furniture which your lo will have for many years.
I spent quite a lot on my daughters bed when she was little but it’s the only bed she’s ever had and will have. I’d also recommend getting a double bed for your children if it will fit in their rooms.

I'm really intrigued to know which company this is. I have a feeling I might know if it's an independent and if it is, I think the return and refund is going to be just as much of a nightmare as the initial purchase.

I'd definitely double check the description on the website (although the place I'm thinking about has taken their website down for now) and then consider reporting to trading standards.

Enjoy your ikea trip op. Top day out in my opinion and free coffee!

You will get it sorted and lo will have a beautiful room for years to come - honestly this company sound like arseholes
