Coughing up blood

Dd 17 has just told me she has been coughing up blood for about a month.
I've literally just seen it happen...bright red blood in a tissue.
She is suffering massively with mental health at the moment. On meds and suspected adhd which is yet to be diagnosed.
Too many things to mention now but she's on a path to self destruction despite everything I'm trying to do. She drinks way too much and vapes constantly which must be what causes the blood. Nhs services are not helping. We are on a waiting list for private therapy. But wtf can I do now? The vaping is causing her serious harm but in her words she cannot stop cos its the only thing that helps slightly with her anxiety and depression. Sorry it's not aibu but does anyone have any advice?

She needs to urgently see a doctor about her physical health. The vaping may not be helping, but if it commonly caused haemoptysis then it would be headline news. Do not presume that's what is causing the blood. Get her checked out properly.

On Monday morning ring GP surgery and explain you need to speak to/see GP to examine/discuss

FGSWhatNow · 09/04/2022 22:50

She needs to get medical advice ASAP if she's coughing up blood.

MrsMoastyToasty · 09/04/2022 22:51

Get her to A snd E .

Cityzen74 · 09/04/2022 22:55

I would get medical advice for her. I might consider A&E but I would definitely ring 111. It sounds a hard time for her and you. Sending best wishes

CrotchetyQuaver · 09/04/2022 22:55

I also wouldn't be too sure it's the gaping causing the bleeding. Think you need to see GP for a referral rather than going to A&E

Is she bulimic? Nails can cause damage.

Absolutelyfuckedup · 10/04/2022 08:42

Not bulimic that I'm aware of no. She did have a slight eating disorder a few years back which involved her not eating very much rather than her being sick.
