Just got back from work. Opened our bedroom window and child's room to let some air in as house hasn't been occupied all day, usually if weather is nice I like to do this. Puff comes in the smell of weed.... quite strong too 🤦🏻‍♀️ I know exactly who it's from, a couple of doors down. Obviously sat in their garden.

I really don't want to report it and be seen as the nagging person. I don't know if they even keep you anonymous?? I'm pregnant and to be honest the smell has made me feel a bit sick and now it's in my house. We only have a small terrace.

Sometimes we smell it usually on a Friday night but never this bad ... may of got to my wits end with it. What do I do ... just leave it be?

Do people seriously think the kind of people who smoke weed in their terraced back garden at 6pm give a shit what a neighbour thinks? They'll just tell her to fuck off and then it's more hassle for the OP.

I wouldn't jump to the worst conclusion about them. I don't necessarily agree with recreational drug use (due to the production and distribution processes and exploitation involved). However I do know plenty of extremely kind and decent people who can be found smoking the occasional spliff. If any of these were made aware they were causing a pregnant woman to be sick, they would want to put it right ASAP. Could be that the OP's neighbours are just as reasonable hence worth starting with asking.

I’d be tempted to ‘tip off’ the police about drug dealing then hope the neighbours become more discrete in future after a raid

Liking a spliff on the weekend doesn’t make you a terrible person. OP just open your windows at the front of your house on a Friday if you can’t bring yourself to ask them to smoke further away.

I’d imagine they have no idea and might actually be mortified that it was going in a kids window. Why not just pop round, and (kindly) let them know that it’s happening?

Yes, tell them that if you can smell it, the other neighbours will too and they might kick up a fuss and you really don't want them to get into trouble. Make it sound like it's for their benefit!
