What is the actual problem with the TV? What is it not doing? Or what is it doing that uou font want it to do? We can't tell from a picture

ReadyToMoveIt · 08/04/2022 15:01

Is it just the presence of the notification that’s bothering you? Is the TV working ok otherwise?

KloppsTeeth · 08/04/2022 15:01

Ah my husband is always pissing about with the TV set up. You have to have it the input on AUX or SAT or whatever to get the sound to work on the normal telly. See if there is an input button on the remote. It pisses me off!

Westpoint · 08/04/2022 15:01

No sound at all

The TV we have at work has 2 remotes , one for the sky / free view ( or what ever it is ) one for the TV.
If one is turned right down the other could be at full volume and you still wouldn't be able to hear it plus the symbols are different so if you're only used to see one type of symbol the one that you can see now might be for or the other remote ( I hope that makes sense)

WonderingWanda · 08/04/2022 15:03

What make and model is the TV, maybe someone with the same one can advise.

milkyaqua · 08/04/2022 15:05

@bigbluebus

Have you tried switching it off at the wall and then switching it back on again? Usually works here when tv is doing strange things!
Yes. This usually fixes most incomprehensible tech things. Try it.
MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 08/04/2022 15:06

Is it on mute?

HollowTalk · 08/04/2022 15:09

I hope you feel better soon. Flowers

veronicagoldberg · 08/04/2022 15:11

Switch it off and on again at the plug.

I think it means turn off the TV and get some sleep. Hope you feel better soon Flowers
Bookworm20 · 08/04/2022 15:24
  1. Are you using a remote that isn't for the TV? For example a sky remote or a remote for a satelite box or something.
If so, look for the actual TV remote. It looks like it could be that. Maybe its nearby with something pressing on the button or something?
  1. Turn it off, unplug it, leave for 1 minute and then turn back on again.
  1. Check nothing is plugged into a sound socket, like headphones or something.
  1. Check its not connected remotely to something (bluetooth connection?) and sound is trying to go through that device.
  1. If you have a settings option on your remote, try that and look for the sound option and go thorugh them to see if its switched itself over to another sound channel or something.
1forAll74 · 08/04/2022 15:36

Switch it off, and get some sleep.or do you not have TV manual.

FatEaredFuck · 08/04/2022 15:38

Are you feeling ok? I think some paracetamol and sleep is a good idea right now, maybe some youtube on your phone for a distraction?

I agree switching it all off and on again is best but save if for when you can trouble shoot.

DigitusImpudicus · 08/04/2022 15:43

Do what bookworm said.

Or watch telly on your phone.

Wine also can help

I'm not sure drinking wine when you have a high temperature and are sick is a good idea!
FlissyPaps · 08/04/2022 15:55

OP I hope you’re ok. TV’s and remotes can be so frustrating when they’re not working.

Does your remote have batteries in? Are they dead?

I agree with PPs, turn it off at the plug. Wait a few minutes and turn it back on. Try a different remote.

Look at all the buttons and what they mean.

Hope you get it sorted and feel better soon.

Andacherryonthetop · 08/04/2022 16:10

Do you another remote for a fire stick or similar? Maybe the volume needs to be changed on a different remote. Otherwise turn off and turn back on as others have suggested. If that doesnt work have a nap op, you sound like you’re feeling rubbish

Sniped · 08/04/2022 16:30

Try turning it off and on and changing the hdmi cable to another port. If this is Virgin TV it happens to my mums tv quite frequently!

QuinkWashable · 08/04/2022 16:51

If it's permanently up there, check you're not sitting on a remote so the button is continuously pressed, because that makes sense as to why it would be up there all the time, and why it seems to be at max.

Or if not sitting on, under a book or something

nearlyspringyay · 08/04/2022 16:57

It's the volume? I'm confused. Can you hear it or not?

Rhondapearlman · 08/04/2022 17:25

If it makes you feel any better I’m perfectly well and can’t work the telly. Hope you’re soon feeling well again.

DigitusImpudicus · 08/04/2022 17:30

@nearlyspringyay

Grin OP says "it's not the sound bar" and then says "no sound at all" but has been watching telly for 2 hours. Silent telly for 2 hours or "no sound at all" is code for something else.
OutingHobby · 08/04/2022 17:35

Have you been watching it like that for 2 hours?

billybear · 08/04/2022 17:56

sound bar remote and tv remote both work ,try adjusting both of them
