Feeling mum guilt when poorly.

Its half term, had tons of nice plans with children and yesterday woke up with what feels like the flu. Is it only me that feels incredible guilt when I am stuck in bed and kids are basically entertaining themselves with the tv and consoles?
Makes me feel even worse that I keep asking for them to make me drinks and stuff cos I literally manage to get to the bathroom and back and that's hard work. The most excitement is my daughter keeps taking my temperature and gets excited as the numbers are going up and up.

Their dad will be around later but I am frustrated!!!

Dont worry they are old enough and safe and I'm not leaving toddlers running around unsupervised.

Oh I remeber that guilt only too well OP, it's horrible but please try to be compassionate to yourself, it's not as if you've cuaght the 'flu on purpose and if your DC are able to make you drinks, they're old enough to understand that. They may be disappointed but they won't blame you and probably just feel sorry for you being so sick.
I had several bouts of tonsillitis when I was a lone parent and DS was very small, too young to understand mummy was poorly. I'd have a high temp, be in a lot of pain, unable to really speak or eat solids and had no one to help. It was horrible but the guilt of feeling I wasn't being a good enough mother was the worst of all. I just about managed to do the basics though and DS was fine. When they get to a certain age, they can understand and TBH, I think it does older kids good to do a bit of caring for others, small tasks like bringing them a drink and asking how the sick person is feeling and can they do anything for you. It helps them develop compassion and empathy.
Your DC will be fine OP, please go easy on yourself and get well soon! Hugs!
