Skin tag remover bands

Has anyone used tag bands to remove a skin tag?

I put one on this morning and it already seems to be going darker but doesn't seem loose.

How long do they take to drop off? Do I just leave the band on till this happens?

My gp practice nurse removed mine. Is this another bloody cost saving they've imposed? Do they not do that any more?

MN at its finest. Don’t arse around, just lop that tag off with nail clippers or scissors and it’ll be grand with a plaster. Job done. 😂

Good Lord! And what do you lot do for tooth extraction? Tie the tooth to the door handle and slam the door?😬

I've got a dark one on the side of my neck. Had it decades for as long as I remember. Doesn't cause problems and it's just part of me. I'd miss it if I went. GP removed one on the bridge of my nose (not comfortable when wearing glasses) and offered to do the one on my neck at the same time. I ssid no.

I had a dermatologist remove mine. It was $110 for up to 20.

I used to try something similar tying a hair around skin tags and it never helped much and in one case it got infected and became very sore. At this point I bit the bullet and just cut the skin tag off with scissors and it didn't hurt at all. I was pleasantly surprised with how easy it was, a small amount of bleeding and then no more skin tag. I always cut them off now.

I'm going to have a look at some numbing gel and maybe give this a try. Years ago the GP took one off my back that rubbed on my bra but when I asked about 2 on my neck pre covid I was told they don't do it anymore as they're required to send it to a lab for checking. So only option was to go private and they told me it would be several hundred pounds. The nurse suggested nail chippers to me too but I wasn't sure if I could bring myself to it. Having read the comments here I'm thinking I go for it given the success stories!

I've successfully removed a couple of small ones with dental floss.

😂 I can't believe people pay hundreds of pounds for something I did with nail scissors.

I would just say make sure everything is cleaned with hot water and antiseptic and make sure you position the clippers/scissors so it just glides through between the tag and the skin. If it's too close to the actual skin it will be really painful.

My DH ask me to put some on him as he had 6 skin tags. I put them on taking care to get band at base of tag. It took between 4 and 7 days for all tags to go red, purple, black/brown, then drop off. He said after day 2 they hurt a bit more each day but worth it as they have not grown back.

Gottoomuchgoingon · 10/05/2022 05:41

Mind blown.

Skin tag surgery for me this weekend I reckon. I've got one in my armpit I'll try it on

I bought a cryotag kit off amazon and it is really easy to use. It freezes them and then drops off. Had one in running where my knickers elastic is and it was during lockdown.
