I'd love to hear your woo stories and experiences as mumsnet has had some great stories over time. I'm asking under aibu as it usually gets more replies.

I'm posting under a throwaway as my story is outing: When I was younger I used to share a room with my sister and we regularly would hear footsteps coming up the stairs towards our bedroom when either our parents were downstairs or were asleep. We also saw shadows a couple of times and my sister heard her name being called. My sister always maintains she saw a flerting glimpse of a woman once when she walked past the doorway of our room.

More recently I've moved in to a house and had some strange goings on. I lost a sentimental ring and searched up and down for it and about a week later, came home from work one day to it on my bedside table. I live alone and just can't see how it magically landed on my bedside table. I also have seen very transparent shadows out of the corner of my eye and had that strong sense of being watched.

I would really love to hear your stories!

@tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz I often have vivid dreams but I remember 'waking up' and being terrified to move as he was sat on my bed. I then managed to turn over and go back to sleep. Glad that it's never happened again. I bet it's awful to have them regularly! Poor you.

We live in a 16th century house, no neighbours and no smokers. Several times after we moved in we smelt cigarette smoke, not the stale hanging about on clothes pong, but as if someone had just lit a cigarette.
The smell didn't permeate the room but would be limited to a patch so you could walk through it and out the other side.

Love a woo thread, don't care if its made up.

Does anyone remember that mill I think it was? Or factory maybe? Was an ongoing thread years ago, suspect it was pulled for being a troll but it was gripping.

@Whiskersonkittens21

I once was shook awake by my partner and I was very spaced out. He was shaking me because I'd sat bolt up right in bed, screamed out loud, he'd asked me what is wrong and I'd said "the darkness is coming for me"

I creeped myself out.

In the early 80's me and my now DH were travelling back from visiting some friends across the county and part of the route back home was a long straight country road with no footpaths or streetlights. It was a misty murky night and we passed a man walking along the grass verge. He was wearing a long combat type jacket and carrying a distinctive modern backpack. We sort of wondered if we should have stopped and given him a lift as the road to the next village was a good few miles away but agreed it probably wouldn't have been a good idea.
No one overtook us on that road but about 5 miles further on, we passed him again...........

@tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz @LndnGrl (Savernake forest) yes, she really overdid it with the voice - especially bringing Jesus into it. I discovered very early in my writing that that invariably ruins both plot and tension Grin

There is no good evident for supernatural phenomenon of any kind.

Well I'm a believer. I don't know what kind of evidence an atheist wants, but I see evidence of God all around me. Even my dog is evidence of God. 🐶Smile

(Trigger warning - miscarriage mentioned.)

Not too spooky, but certainly freaked me out at the time. A few years ago, I unfortunately had a missed miscarriage. I had been in hospital overnight with bleeding and got scanned in the morning which revealed bad news. I'd travelled 100 miles in an ambulance from our holiday visiting family, DH and DS had stayed behind.
My parents collected me from hospital and we arrived back in my flat. My flat has a long hallway with living room at front and bedroom at the back. My parents went into the living room and I went to the bedroom to put bags in. I shut door tight to give myself a minute, and suddenly an overwhelming smell of tweed perfume filled the room. The window was shut, door was shut, there were no vents and absolutely nobody sprayed tweed perfume. The smell vanished as soon as it started.
