Rectal Prolapse

Hi everyone,
8 weeks ago I gave birth to a beautiful little boy via forceps and kiwi delivery.
It was quite traumatic.
I am pretty sure that I have a rectal prolapse. Am going to GP next week to confirm.
I am reading that surgery is required to fix this.
Surgery is not an option for me for at least the next 3 years. I had surgery after my first child was born, for a different issue, but it was upsetting and stressful for me not to be able to hold her etc and to rely on others for help. I will not repeat that experience unless absolutely necessary.
What can I do to help my prolapse in the meantime and to make the wait period more pleasant? Have any of you ever corrected a prolapse without surgery?
I am feeling pretty sorry for myself at the moment. My first birth was a c section. This time around I fought really hard to have a VBAC but wish I hadn't now. All my friends seem to pop babies out with no issues afterwards. I am having a pity party tonight for myself. I know there are bigger and more serious issues in life but I already have a pretty serious medical condition that I am dealing with and I just feel fed up right now.
Thanks everyone

I'm sorry you are going through this, it must be dreadful. My sympathies,

I'm pretty sure that surgery for this is either keyhole or perineal (what a polite way of putting it!). So recovery may not be all that bad you know. See what the doc says anyhow. Please don't martyr yourself - that old cliche about putting your own seatbelt on first is true.

Thanks for the encouraging message. I hope it will be okay. Medically I have been through a lot in my life so I have a habit now of fearing the worst.

I had that and bladder, developed a couple of year after my first child. I didn't need surgery - I had bowel retraining and physiotherapy. I use movicol daily and put my feet on a stool for number 2s.
