Spent most of the day figuring out whether DD is ok to travel to Cyprus on holiday or not. Turns out she’s 1 day short of the 14 day rule of her last vaccination and she’s 4 days short of having last recovered from Covid! So now we’ve got to run the gauntlet of her being PCR tested before we go and she’ll get PCR tested again when we arrive! I know there’s far bigger things going on in the world right now but why does the joy have to be sucked out of everything that is supposed to be something we should be excited and looking forward too!

It's ridiculous. Not so much the rules but how complicated it all is. Why they don't use the normal test centres for a reasonable price or have them at airports etc I don't know. I travelled last year and the worry, research time and cost was ridiculous

A holiday is a luxury. People are still dying from this every day, just not a big enough number for people not to complain about a bit of extra admin, clearly.

If you can afford/plan a holiday to Cyprus, you can afford/plan for a PCR test. Not to be blunt but if the joy is sucked out of such an indulgence for you by this, it's because you've let it be. It's not like you're going to have to spend 4 hours of each actual holiday day sat in a test centre.

It's a little bit more forward planning is all. Currently in Italy and managing fine.

It’s all pointless nonsense, which is essentially what I object to. We took video-observed fit to fly LFT tests required to get into the US: they didn’t even observe the test, just made sure we had ID in the name of the person who had booked the test, watched us drip fluid onto the test kit, and took the QR code.

@Momijin you’re right. It’s the complexity of it all! Plus different website say different things about what is and isn’t allowed! I used the TUI entry requirements as well as checking in the TUI shop when I booked and still managed to mess it up! I’m now trying to move the holiday 1 day later so my DD is within the vaccination timeframe and doesn’t have to do the PCR’s. The lady in the TUI shop has been on the phone trying to change it since 9am this am!!! She said she could still be waiting till 5pm!

@ComtesseDeSpair it’s like they’re just going through the process without really bothering with the results! It was like this in France… all the rules were about 12-15 year old being vaccinated but when you actually get there no one has the time or inclination to even check! Same with their Covid agreement that you have to sign… no one checks it! I hope I’ve not gone through the hassle of changing all this for the Cypriots not to even bother checking the Covid dates etc 😩

They have testing centres at most airport departures areas so it’s not a big deal to get a test before you fly. Check the airport you are flying from, they probably have a test centre. You just roll up and test, wait, get results then roll over to check in desk. Easy peasy.
