OH is making a fuss about me putting the cot up I'm having a planned c-section next week. He said it's just going to sit there and gather dust and he can't wait for his "new born baby to be sat in a cot full of dust" his words. Absolutely pathetic I said I'm going to cover it up anyway.

I don't know why is so bloody bothered!

AIBU? He is getting on my nerves Angry

He doesn’t understand the drive women have to get their nest ready. Just indulge yourself and nest away.

In case he thinks getting the cot ready is extreme you might be happy to hear I insisted on scrubbing out the bbq! Absolutely no idea why but it was essential. Grin

I had a section planned then my waters broke and straight off to hospital nine days early. I guess my husband could have come home and in the midst of the excitement and between his work (so he could take paternity leave when we got home), informing everyone, and all the other stuff he could have taken a few hours putting a cot together (getting more and more frustrated), but we were smart enough to have the room ready.
Baby went straight into cot.

Tbh at this late stage of pregnancy he should be catering to your every whim!

How much dust gathers in a week? Confused

We had our bedside cot up a couple of weeks before due date. Neither of us wanted to be in a position where we had to faff with stuff with a newborn baby!

Stravaig · 02/04/2022 17:51

I'd likely laugh in his face for imagining a few motes of dust could possibly harm the babe. Then curse the missed opportunity, backtrack, and agree that our uniquely toxic dust is extremely harazardous to his precious firstborn, and suggest he execute emergency spring cleaning operations. Whilst I happily potter about setting up the cot amd gently nesting ...

This 100%.

Does he think all the baby dust from TTC comes out at the other end of the nine months?

It would be wise to put it up now, in case you go into labour early and they bring your c-section forward!

There’s nothing fun about fumbling to assemble a cot and bedding when juggling a newborn!

I really struggled to get in and out of bed when I was still pregnant with the next to me Crib up. This time the day ds2 was born my husband came home and built it before I was home.

I can see why you want it up (just like I did last time, but honestly it was so hard getting in and out of bed I'm glad I left it until baby was here this time)
