To consider going back to childcare

I worked in childcare (nurseries) for a long time but I lef and worked in retail as it fitted in better with family life.
However I hate retail and have been applying for nursery jobs but now I'm wondering if I'm being unreasonable /stupid to do this.
With the cost of living rising will parents still use nursery? Or will they try to work opposite shifts or use family?
I obviously don't want to start a new job only to lose it weeks later but would like to go back to the job I trained for and love.
Am I being unreasonable to go in to childcare now or do you think it'll be fine.
YABU =parents will try to use less childcare
YANBU =it will be fine

I can't see nurseries closing down en masses tbh. People will still need childcare and nursery is one of the cheaper options.

I'm a nanny and I do think there's going to be a sizeable drop in jobs for us.

Everyone needs to work more now and childcare is a really good skill that people will always need. I work in a school nursery and all of the parents are trying to get their kids in full-time because they're having to work longer hours. Jobs in schools or working with 3-4 yo's will probably be the most secure because parents get the free hours.

I don't know where you live but I've heard stories about signing up for a place in nursery right after 12w scan if you live in South, so I cannot imagine there will be a sudden drop in demand.

Thanks for the replies. There do seem to be jobs about but I read a thread on here about not being able to afford childcare on top of everything else and then I had started worrying.
At least my present job is secure but I was probably worrying for no reason. You are right if people are working more they'll need care for their child /ren.
