I don't know about golden customers. but you get a coupon and free newspaper.

I used to work in an M&S cafe about 20 years ago and the biscuit then used to be a biscuit curl… they were fairly big so their generosity must have decreased over the years! I used to give extra to my favourite customers.

The thing about it being because of waste is rubbish they could just ask people if they wanted one

It's such a shame, as a PP said they were just right if you didn't fancy anything bigger.

And they've stopped serving mini marshmallows with their babycinos

I once asked for a skinny chai latte in the M&S cafe and the woman behind the counter had no skimmed milk and had to go two floors down to the Food Hall to get some. Because I had had to wait, she gave me a free bag of the mini biscuits. I was in Heaven. Truly a wonderful day.

I feel like she was actually trying to stab you in the back here, you wanted a skinny drink so she gave you fatty biscuits a plenty

YANBU, it was the perfect accompaniment.

I stupidly spent £2 on an 'iced spiced' bun earlier to go with my coffee, even though a packet of 2 is about £1.35 in the adjoining shop

I think the individual buns are bigger than the ones in the two pack. Still a rip off though!

They did have them behind the counter for a while and you could ask for one but that seemed to disappear when Covid struck, I doubt they have them behind the counter now

I used to go to Thorntons for a hot chocolate and a free lemon mousse chocolate but they are closed now,

You might but most people don’t get that option, just the vouchers.
On the Waitrose thread on here, seems to be the people that used the free newspaper most before the scheme ended.
My myWaitrose app has no option or button for free newspapers
( or sadly free mini biscuits 🤣)

I had a fake biscoff type biscuit on the side of my free (with my sparks card) hot chocolate and scone at M&S on Monday.

I still get the newspaper vouchers from Waitrose - but probably because every time I got a survey to complete, I moaned and whinged about how it was the only useful freebie on offer, and made a difference to the frequency of my visits.

If only M&S would ask, I'd tell them the same thing about the mini shortbread and their cafes. #SqueakyWheelGetsTheBiscuit

I've added the Times to my Waitrose Click and Collect from the App. Will be interesting to know if it comes for free 😊

Update re "free" Waitrose newspaper.

You only get one if Free Newspaper appears in your weekly vouchers. If it doesn't you don't get one that week. So it is far from guaranteed the way it used to be.

Back to feeling miffed. The total amount I saved this week with their dazzling voucher scheme was a measly £2.

Those biscuits were horrible
