Aibu to think that we can do all of this in one day out in London?

We are going to visit London soo and there as soo many great things to do. Ideally we only want to use one full day. The rest of the time we will be in a city close by.

Aibu to think that we can visit the natural history museum, the science museum, do the London eye and walk around for some sight seeing in one day?

We are a family of 5 with a 9, 8 and 6 year old.

Or do you have a better recommendation of how we could use our time in London city? Or should we stretch it too 2 days?

Sorry too much and too overwhelming for your children.

One museum in the morning then bus into Westminster and London Eye would be a really good busy day. Trying to do both is just too much

Quartz2208 · 31/03/2022 07:51

Yes I think you are in danger of trying too much and missing out. And remember the museums are 30 minutes from London Eye.

What city close by are you in? I would pick one museum and then go to the Southbank area.

dottiedodah · 31/03/2022 07:53

You would need a whole day just for the natural history museum! I would stretch to 2 days .rushing around at breakneck speed isn't enjoyable and you will be worn out!

Ragwort · 31/03/2022 07:59

Agree with everyone else, in theory it's possible but it won't be enjoyable, rushing from one place to the next. Part of the fun is sitting in a London park (good place for a picnic if the weather is good) and just absorbing the atmosphere. Unless your DC are exceptionally well behaved and obedient will they really want to be rushed around?

@LostMySocks

I'm sure that you used to be able to get 2 for 1 on the Eye if you travel on by train. You can look it up on line.
The river boat down the Greenwich also used to be 2 for 1 if you have travelled by train. The open top bus tour is a brilliant way to see lots of stuff that is nice to see but not nice enough to walk to e.g Buckingham Palace. The Eye is nicer when you are a bit older and can appreciate some of the things you can see ,St Paul's etc. At 6 you are just in a pod a long way up.

It's a bitnlike popping into legoland for a couple of hours and then chessington and maybe a bit at Thorpe! Technically possible but each is a day out in its own right.

We spent a day at science museum (book wonderlan- its the interactive bit and so worth it) and loved it. We did a morning at NHM but only because we were overwhelmed. We missed so much.

You could do a day sightseeing - walk from river to buckhinhgam palace, do the eye etc. Remember places aren't as close as you'd think sk allow travel time.

Whatafustercluck · 31/03/2022 08:17

Too ambitious op, unless you really limit your time at the museums to an hour or two at most which defeats the object of going. The science museum has loads there and you can easily spend 3 hours there alone. I'd do one museum, the Eye (actually I probably wouldn't do the Eye anyway but something else) and a little sightseeing - Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey all very close to one another so no travel necessary. Or you could do a river boat from Westminster Pier which is fun.

Lastqueenofscotland · 31/03/2022 08:19

I’d pick one or other museum and then the eye. Especially with kids if that age

HereWeGoAgain322 · 31/03/2022 08:21

Too ambitious.

Do it over two days.

First day, visit the museums.
Second, go to the London Eye. You've got Shreks adventure and the Sea Life aquarium all in the same part as well as the river ride. So maybe do one of those as well?

jo55ie · 31/03/2022 08:54

I think you could do it if you started early and spent a couple of hours in each museum, which will leave you all potentially wanting more. You'll all definitely be tired after that day!!

cheninblanc · 31/03/2022 09:03

From experience far too much and I learnt that the hard way. I'm local to London and when mine were that young I used to try and do that but ended up with crying grumpy children. Even now they are much older I stick to much less than that

doeadeeer · 31/03/2022 12:48

I'm a Londoner and I'd say that's too much. Two museums is quite a lot in one day. I'd rather be more leisurely personally 🤷‍♀️

CottonSock · 31/03/2022 12:50

Two museums is one too many in a day. Have some time to chill out and wader too.

bembridge11 · 31/03/2022 16:16

It is do-able - but will be arduous rather than fun
If you only have one day - do less
Or increase the days so you arent running from one place to another
