Over 18 question not necessary in Duty Free

I'm 50. Even being charitable, on a good day, with fabulous lighting and at 100m distance and a myopic observer you might put me at 40.

Why do people in Duty Free have to ask people to confirm if they're over 18? Surely a waste of time and breath for all involved?

I had some alcohol delivered from a company and the driver refused to hand it over until I showed him ID. I'm in my late 70s and look my age. Grin

I’m disappointed. I thought this was going to be a question about the hilarious 1980s situation comedy starring Keith Barron.

@Crankley hahaha!!!

Presumably they have to tick a box to say they've checked. And possibly they've heard about a time when the boss checked up and the customer said "no, I wasn't asked", landing the employee got into trouble for lying.

Oh presumably @lanthanum but that's my point- there's borderline surely and then absolutely bleedin obvious though?

After examining my ID, the driver noticed I was born in 1945 and he asked me about WWII - I pointed out I was still in my Mother's womb. He went bright red and ran down the garden path Grin
