To ask if you flew from Manchester recently

Posting for traffic really. Has anyone flew from Manchester airport recently? What’s was the security queue like? We were thinking about getting to the airport at 4am for a 6.30 flight but reading about the recent waiting times I’m not so sure about that

I'm at Manchester T1 now. Had fast track tickets and went through that lane but they didn't even ask to see our tickets. There was an xray aisle just gor fast track and we were right through in less than 5 mins. No queues anywhere and had a drink in hand within another couple of minutes

@BarbaraofSeville

People were still leaving liquids, including those in containers over 100 ml, tablet computers and other large electronics like full DSLR camera kits with extra lenses, tripods etc in their hand luggage.

Are you suggesting only MAN passengers do that? I'd assume all passengers at all airports would foul up that kind of basic instruction, so why is MAN being affected so badly by it when other airports aren't? Or is the reality of the situation that MAN is simply badly managed, hence their current problems that aren't as commonplace in other airports!

We flew out on 27th, we had fast track security tickets, took me longer to find the tickets on my phone ( My mistake for not printing them) than it took to get through security

We flew home a week later, landed at 10pm, the day the airport was at its worst and bags had been abandoned, we landed and was in the car in less than an hour! IT would have been quicker but, our bags were off last.

I got off the train at 11.17 this morning. I was through security by 11.33. I only had cabin baggage and I'd checked in in advance

Thestoppedfan · 06/04/2022 12:34

I flew out on 14/03 and it was horrific. Over 2 hours for check in and security. We landed 30/03 and they took an hour and a half to offload our bags, not a staff member in sight.

Flew from Gatwick today. Arrived 8am, extra early, bag drop, and then was through security within 20 minutes.

Flew on the 2nd. Got there half seven for a half eleven flight. Two hours to check in, we’d paid for premium economy so in theory had a dedicated check in but it seemed a free for all. Had fast track security that was quick but then they wanted to search a bag and that was probably another hours wait. Got on plane and on tarmac for an hour. Got to destination 90 mins on tarmac as no air bridge. Terminal two, tui to Mexico. Was considering long haul October half term but think we will now wait til next Easter!

ferneytorro · 06/04/2022 19:58

Oh and have heard that people are getting to Manchester and just going home rather than wait for bags. Sounds quite tempting!

CheltenhamLady · 07/04/2022 10:32

My son flew from there this morning at 6.15 am and has texted to say it took only 40 mins for bag drop and 10 mins for security. So, it appears things are improving, unless that was just because it was a very early flight.

Another son flies tomorrow and we fly on Monday (all to different destinations!) so I hope we are as lucky!!

I flew out yesterday from Manchester, flight left at 18.50. I had fast track. Arrived 4hrs before the departure time, queues were long but I got through in 50m on the fast track so waited ages the other side. The food and drink outlets that were open (quite a few were closed) were rammed and seating was rammed though I managed to find a seat and wait 3 hrs for my flight.

The Easter crush has probably started! Dreading my flight next week…

My second son due to fly from Manchester with Easyjet tonight has just had his flight cancelled due to staff sickness...Sad

Snoopbeef · 10/04/2022 08:20

Landed back in Manchester last night from Dubrovnik and am pleased to report it was great. Straight through passport control and our bags were already on the carousel.

Lots of bags left lying round unclaimed in baggage claim area. Others not so lucky 😢

Coming back to this thread to update about my experience on Friday. Arrived at 6.15pm, hand luggage only for an 8.30 flight. No queues at all. Staff told me 3-6pm is manic but ok apart from that 🤷🏻‍♀️ once through security it was bedlam. 45 minute wait for a seat at the only bar serving food. A 40 minute wait once seated for a pint! Lounges all closed, no free seating. Bodies EVERYWHERE! A pretty horrendous experience tbh...

CheltenhamLady · 15/04/2022 17:01

I flew out at 3pm on April 11th. It took 12 mins from being dropped off to get through bag drop and security. It was a breeze.

We hadn't pre-booked the VIP lounge due to tp the reported issues and they couldn't accommodate walk-ins, so we decided to eat in the restaurant to kill the extra time we had allowed to get through the airport. Excellent flight with Jet2.

On our return the queues for passport control were huge, but despite the number of people and the fact that a few of the automated passport lanes were closed, we got through in about 20 mins, by which time our luggage was on the carousel.

A good experience all around. No complaints from me.
